GT5 - Install for faster load times?
GT5 - Install for faster load times? –
I have GT5 on my internal hard drive. I noticed the load times are pretty horrendous, and there's an option to install it to my hard drive. It's already on my hard drive of course, but would installing it when it asks help speed it up a bit? It seems like a stupid question since it's all on the hard drive anyway, but I'm wondering if the game installs certain data a certain way that helps it read everything faster.
Since it is already on hdd you won't get any gains from installing it again. It's not a stupid question but it has been answered before If you goto options and go to the one way at the bottom and in the middle and choose the one for post install it will stop nagging you to install whenever you start the game. Hope it helps!

it makes no difference to load times at all unless compared to loading from disk ,and this info could have been found easily with a search
You are wrong! I have tested it

how is loading from the hard drive physically gonna be faster than loading from the same hdd?
long load times or short, i just deal with it after its installed. can't change the way it is so just buck up and eat your cake, don't whine because you have it.

THIS IS BECAUSE tracks when not installed have to be extracted (not just read) every time... Installing the game even though it is already on the hdd is recommended.. cuts loads times in half or MORE!!! anyone who says any different is just offering their 2 cents worth of "speculation". I have tested this with multiple CFW's and multiple payloads on multiple machines. therefore... INSTALL THE GAME!
I was thinking that there might be the possibility that some of the data is still compressed when you run straight from BDDVD or Backup and that data becomes decompressed when installing to hdd from the game therefore giving you better load times but I don't know?
Anyway I don't have the option because I have this weird problem where if I install any data from the game the majority of the races in GT mode will fail to load. It will show that it's loading the race and when the load bar gets to the end the game will just stay there forever. To get the game to work I had to delete all the installed game data and then turn off install data in options and always run the game with mem patch on in multiman. I'm on hermes 3.41cfw.
