Game Updates?

Just had a quick question about downloadable games updates. I noticed that in the update pkg's that are available for my games that the letters "fw" are also in the filenames. A few of the available updates reference 3.60, which I know hasn't been fully unlocked as of yet. Anyway, I have Lair. I've been wanting to play with analog control, I just don't want to download the update pkg and blow away my kmeaw 3.55 firmware. I guess I'm not really sure which game update pkgs are safe to download, and which ones aren't. I'd imagine anything with 3.60 in it is bad. Is everything else safe then? I'm also using the latest multiman.

Edit: Just saw Sketch's update list, still not sure about the numbers in the update titles. 1.08, 2.0, etc.

Lair should be safe as its updates require firmware below 2.0, PS3Index - Your PS3 Database
