FTP'ing –
02-16-2011,12:42 PM
Hello fellow PS'ers
just a quick question on FTPing files from PC.
I'm using filezilla to Xfer my files and have been using MM too.
I've also got gaia and Blackbox on my PS and was wondering whats the better config for Xfering?
Noticed when I use MM I'm getting 5 on average, maybe 6 on a good day, but was wondering what others where getting? (and how they get it?)
I'm using my broadband router (although i have another simple router and spare NIC card). should i use these? does the type of router have an effect?
Got a few Cisco routers (although they need settings applied - not a problem) but would i get better throughput this way?
all thoughts, ideas and suggestions welcome.

Use active instead of PASV, make sure you're not using wireless anywhere, and use BlackB0x or OpenFTP to do your transfers instead of a BM w/ FTP support.

Was just Xfering a large file where is was the only one (9GB and used BB) cos it failed and noticed i was getting 10 when it was only 1 file.
when its doing2 at a time the average is about 2 - 3 on each. can I change this?

Depending on your client. I use Filezilla and you can go into it's preferences/settings and set Active mode, and then also set max threads/connections to 1. The FTP server programs have a hard time dealing w/ multiple transfers.
