I had same issue. Filezilla was struggling with me also.

Use WinSCP which never lets me down.

it isn't that hard to do just set it up straight ,best thing for speed is do it with cable,
then within the ps3 startup blackbox note the ip adress ,then on the pc site startup ftp client , and fill in session (whatever you like called it ps3 )
then site name will be the ip adress you see whithin blackbox leave username anonymous and no password ,also for a direct connection between your pc and ps3 i think you need a crossover cable or twisted pair

    Use these settings:

http://psx-scene.com/forums/f118/i-a...-server-75605/ (I am have trouble with the PS3 FTP Server)

I also wasted a day trying to figure the settings out and finally got it working.

Just use WinSCP. Filezilla is unreliable.

All cat5 cables (ethernet) should be twisted pair with no joins. From router to ps3 a crossover cable will not work, only a straight cat5 ethernet cable.

Like I say, WinSCP is the better package. Set it up approx like I set it up in my screenshot above, but where it says IP, put the one in that blackbox ftp server gives you, then you are good to go. Filezilla IMO is not recommended.
