Friend updated me to 3.56... Can I get my game backups off the internal HD?

I have several consoles at 3.55 and below. My main one is customised to use a full size, 1TB hard drive as the internal. Online access is blocked at the router. But a friend put in a new game disk that updated it to 3.56. Stupid me never considered the game disks might include the firmware update on them
. Everything seems to still be there. Just nothing will run. The HD was FULL so, needless to say, I have some backups I want to transfer to one of my other 3.55 consoles. What is the best (if any) way to go about this? The recent guide on transferring data from 3.65 to 3.55??? Will that transfer game backups as well? I would just try it but I am scared it may update my 3.55 console... And I don't want to melt my laser backing them all up again.
TIA for any advice! And yes, I will ALWAYS install spoofers from now on!

Well, you have 3 possible options the way I see it. You could see if there is a spoofer that makes the PS3 go to 3.56 and then try to transfer data off that way. You could try upgrading to 3.65 to try the same data transfer but if the recent rumors are true 3.56 custom firmware is in the works (not sure if it'll happen or not). That also brings up if the transferring does allow backups to transfer with it. Honestly I have no idea if it does, the way I see it is a 50/50 chance. So instead of upgrading to 3.65, I would just try spoofing a PS3 to 3.56 and then see if it allows transferring. If not then i'd just wait to see if a newer CFW comes out.

Yes, it's quite easy. Take the BluRay disks out of their boxes, put them in your 3.55 machine, dump the games again. Other than that? No, not unless you update to 3.65 and use that tutorial for transferring data.

system backup does include the /dev_hdd0/game/*.*
create a system backup then restore it to another ps3 with 3.56 spoofing

thanks for the help everybody. Most of my games are in /dev_hdd0/gamez
Do we know if that folder will be backed up during a transfer to a spoofed 3.56? If so, that option should work good. If I can locate a 3.56 spoofer. Shouldn't be too hard.
It's also an interesting idea to connect the hard drive to the 3.55 console via USB adapter. Then I should be able to copy the game folders manually using the Awesome File Manager right?
I already have a DD image (linux raw HD image) of the drive on my computer... Is there any PC based file manager that can read the PS3 filesystem?

To the very best of my knowledge, the entire HD is backed up when you run the Sony utility on the PS3. I can't guarantee this, but I'm PRETTY sure it does, and yes; that includes GAMEZ/GAMES folder.
