FIXED: Vampire Rain Hangs on Install 6%

A friend wanted me to see if I could get this working since it appears no one has gotten it to work yet. It would always hang on install at 6% or so. I did get it working fine after messing with it. Here are the instructions for the pal BLES00239 version. I imagine it will work with other versions you will just have to note the different directory names. Let me know how it goes.

Tested and working on JB 3.41 with Multiman 1.11.06 and Open Manager 2.1-I

1: Run the game as normal, and do mandatory 3.8gb install.

2: Once it hangs on install at around 6% Turn off the PS3

The install created the game data directory at /dev_hdd0/game/BLES00239
The game data install is broke but we will copy the files manually...

3: Take your source backup folder and copy, via ftp or filemanger, everything inside the original source USRDIR into /dev_hdd0/game/BLES00239/USRDIR -Overwrite all files, 23,000 so this will take a long while. Once it is complete

4: Navigate to /dev_hdd0/game/BLES00239/USRDIR and rename 'INSTALL.STR' to 'INSTALL.END' ***Important step

5: Reset PS3 and load via your favorite loader. No special patch modes are needed.

6: Enjoy!

From my understanding,I think i know why the game halts at 6% install.The game uses this LISTUP_FILES.TXT file which is located in USRDIR folder to copy the game files to hdd.The problem is there are some missing files from the game that are not present in the TXT file specifically for these entries:

BCEVENT\FACE\ANGERSHAPE.FBD
BCEVENT\FACE\SMILESHAPE.FBD
BCEVENT\FACE\SORROWSHAPE.FBD
BCEVENT\FACE\SURPRISESHAPE.FBD

Deleting these lines from the TXT file will make the game install naturally but I'm not sure if the missing files are essential for the game correct operation.I didn't try to finish the installation as it takes freakingly long time to install but it does past the 6% mark if you edit the TXT file.

By all means,the author's method is also working from a logical view as it also did the same copy process but manually.

Yes that makes sense. I could tell there was def a problem with that but the thought of going through all those 20,000 files to find what's missing would be a liltte daunting to say the least. Of course I could of saw what was the last file that installed before hanging then went back removed it, try to install again, go back remove it, etc and so forth. Did you install it to %100 though? Could there be other files missing?

I played through half of the first board so that appeard to be working but who knows. People post their results and try jin's method too.

Jinsatoemo: Have you had a look at making God of War 3 work discless? This is something I haven't been able to do and would like to find out how to do. Maybe if you had a debug unit you could monitor why gow3 doesn't work discless?
