    This game installs to HD.
    Now my question is :
can I remove the installed files from my backup folder on the internal hd?
Seeing as they are installed they should be read from the install folder and not from my backup folder anymore right?

See it like this, when you install a game on your computer you still need the cd to play right? Don't delete the backup folder.
    Currently playing:
    Portal 2
    Operation FP:RR
    L.A. Noire
    SOCOM 4.

Nope, you're doing this all wrong. But fear not, that's why you ask questions: to get answers.

What you need to do (assuming you have MultiMan) is make a Shadow copy. This basically copies links to the installed game data, to the folder where they would normally be installed. So when the console looks for what would normally be install data, it will follow the link to that folder where you backed it up to. All you have to do is go to the file manager mode in MultiMan, go into the folder where you have the game backed up (GAMEZ --> BLUS-xxxx) and when you're inside the folder, press R3 on the PS3_GAME folder I believe. Either that, or USRDIR, I forget which one. But when you click the Analog, it'll prompt and ask you if you want to make a shadow copy, click yes. I did this for literally every one of my games, and freed up around 60GB in a day lol.

Assuming this works for you, you're welcome. But don't thank me, thank deank for implementing the feature.

UPDATE: Forgot to mention, delete the install data first, GameOS side. Under your PS3 Game data, delete the installed data. THEN do the aforementioned shadow copying, and it won't prompt you for the install, the PS3 will just think it's there.

Thanks from me too; very helpful. (And I didn't even ask anything)

One more question tho, I deleted the game data and made the shadow copy.
When I start the game it first asks to load a save game and then it still says it will install the game.
When I cancel the install it just loads the game.
Could it be because of a save file still being there as I did not delete that.

That's a possibility, as the save game might still be referencing actual data as opposed to the link data. I'd just ignore it, it may just take that initial first time boot to recognize the data, after that there should be no further problems, as I haven't had any.
