Not really. There is a psarc extraction method (usually the files that are over 4gb), but it doesn't work all that great. You're better off upgrading your internal.
thank you and yes ive heard of that method but once in a blue moon those rnt the files over 4gb sometimes theres a diff one, so thank you for the quick reply , maybe NTFS support soon ? with CFW who knows ill upgrade my internal probably
From what I've read, NTFS support is impossible.
Not sure what ur asking.. if its external HDD larger than 4 GB or tranfering files larger.. but heres how i do it.
1: use this tool to format your external to FAT32 (allows them larger)
HP FORMAT TOOL.
HP USB Disk Storage Format Tool - v2.1.8 Download - EXTREME Overclocking
2: This still wont let you tranfer files larger than 4GB.. BUT.. what i do is just tranfer everything.. then when is errors out on the larger files.. I just skip them.. then I hook up the external HDD to the PS3.. and FTP the larger files than skipped to the HDD.
but then it still dosnt let u play the game on the external ??? I have a 1 tb external fat32 drive that ive backupped alot of stuff on but my first file over 4GB game was red dead and i wanted to put it on external but i read that if a file over 4GB is in the game then it cant be read from a FAT32 or played in a BM unless the game is put on the internal
Its not that it can't be read but fat32 can't hold files greater than 4gb.
Hopefully, devs find a suitable workaround. Kinda like how the Wii uses wbfs to support just about anything on external drives.
You could create an NTFS partition just for games
It worked for me on uncharted 2. There is a file called pak22.psarc or something. You unpack it with psarc extractor. It creates a pak22 folder where the pak22 file is. After you extract the files to the pak22 folder you can delete the pak22.psarc. You now have broken up the big file into smaller ones and backup manager can use it
