EDIT: I think I have solved my problem thanks to this great post: http://psx-scene.com/forums/f187/%5B...me-sexy-76406/

    Hi all,

I've been searching about on the forums for ages now trying to find an answer but never did, so I decided to just ask.

The PS3 can only read a HDD formatted to FAT32, but there are some backups that contain files which are considerably larger than 4GB, which FAT32 cannot store. I've seen people claim these backups still work, yet I cannot find a way of accessing them.

I read in a topic somewhere that you can partition a secondary SATA partition onto a primary FAT32 however this did not work.

So my question is simple - How does one load games which have files larger than allowed on a FAT32 drive? (for example 'Umineko no Naku Koro ni' which houses a 7GB .DAT file)

    Thank you!

You have to split the big files on you PC.

    Use OpenSplit 1.2

Put the game on an external Fat32 HDD.

Plug it into your PS3 and copy it with multiMAN to your internal.

Multiman will put the splitfiles together again.

Splitgames will only work on your internal.
    Tutorial for multiMAN: (All Versions)
    1. Start multiMAN (Dont need LV2 anymore)
    2. Choose your desired game on multiMAN.
    3. Mount the game with a click on X.
    4. Say NO to a start without going to XMB.
    5. Now you are on XMB. Click the disk/game icon and have fun.
