External Hard Drive not working

I was playing a game off my external when the game froze, so i turned my ps3 off and went back to multiman, and i waited almost 10 minutes, and it did not show up, and i also pressed refresh, and it still did not show up. So after this i plugged it into my computer and after 40 minutes, an option came up to format it, and when i pressed format, it said sorry, no disk is in said drive.

Any ideas on what to do, its a 750 gig western digital passport, i know for a fact its not damaged(internally, outside is scratched to all hell and its never been dropped to my own knowledge, it barely leaves my room)

any ideas on what to do?

Plug it into windows like you did, and run a chkdsk /f /r. That should fix your problem, it fixed mine when I was having the same issue. Let us know what happens after that.
