Elotrolado.net: Releases "Flex Manager"
Elotrolado.net: Releases "Flex Manager" –
10-08-2010,03:31 PM
(The following write-up, was added by GaryOPA to improve this news story!)
The always busy Spanish modders over at Elotrolado have taken the source released by Jurai2 from PS3NEWS called "Sexy Manager" and improved it to operate like the Netflix movie interface showing the various PS3 Games from your hard drives in nice flowing cover interface, much like the famous "CoverFlow" USB Loader found on the Wii-Scene over at our sister site WIINEWZ

Anyway, looks fairly nice, but as I don't speak Spanish, so I can't give you the full report of what's all different other then the way you see the games. Also, expect the same level of incompatibilities as Sexy Manager has due to the work being a fork of his code.

EDIT: Just as I thought, dogie721 over at ps3news.com is responsible for most of the changes to this project. Still not sure if Jewrye is the original coder though.
EDIT #2: covers go in /dev_hdd0/games/OMAN46756/covers/ and are by title id, ex BCUS12345.PNG (notice that all letters need to be capitalized for this to work. Reported that having .png will not work). Covers need to be 348x400 in size in order to work.

Is this really Jurai's (Jewrye's) work, or did he rip it off from someone else and call it his own? Can never tell with that guy considering there is never any source code being posted. That and the release at Elotrolado.net looks way more polished then his and it's called Flex Manager and not Cover Manager. My guess is, he's trying to rip off code again.

Jurai is the original coder creating cover manager and dogie721 using jurai's code as a base created flex manager so in this case the ripping of code was not done by the accused.

I updated your post and move it to the front page, feel free to correct any mistakes, it is such a mess, since the release of "Open Manager" all these various versions, some better then others and some more improved then others, it is getting very hard to know what is the best one to use, and who the real author of the source changes is!
All tho personally I like the nice interface of "Flex Manager" makes it look much better, I wonder if they could add so you could use the MOVE controller to select the games? -- Waving it back and forth to scroll thru!

Yep it is funny, but the CoverFlow on the Wii is very famous people love to make it look all nice and pretty. -- I still like personally your fork for the best so far in compatibily of games, need to finish testing all this for my in-depth review of the various dongles and payloads to publish later tonight! -- It is giving me a royal headache!

Thanks for cleaning it up Garyopa. Really just wanted to get the news that there was yet another manager released. Really hard to tell where all these are coming from without sources posted though.

Agreed, compatibility should come first. The GUI can always be improved upon once everything is running as it should.

Kind of on topic, due to the mass of loaders that are on the scene, I have 3 different loaders on my PS3, the original Backup Manager, the loader that lets you pick where to load from and sexy manager. I was wondering about removing some. If I remove the original backup manager, will my folders stay intact? Or will my gamez folder be deleted too. I want to keep sexy manager and get rid of the other 2.

I'd rather be complaining that there are too many rather than too few launchers any day.
