eboots/signed pks/kmeaw doubts, help please
eboots/signed pks/kmeaw doubts, help please –
1st of all, if i install kmeaw cfw will it be reversible? i mean, can i install 3.41 over it and let my ps3 with the previous official fw?
whats these things, eboots, and signed pkgs? i know eboots are files u substitute on games folders, and signed pkgs stuff u install to the console
the thing is, who needs them, and what do they previously need to work (kmweaw?)
i currenty have a silabs ps3key, as far as i know theres no fix for the 3.55 spoof firmware that the "key" team provided (so i'm using the 4.3)
what exactly do i need to play gt5?
do i need kmeaw, eboot, signed pkg and everything?
or can i solve it with a mix of the right stuff?
i prefer a less intrusive way (avoiding kmeaw cfw)
thanks for any help
Kmeaw is the best, and yea its reversable, u can goto 3.55ofw from kmeaw then downgrade back to 3.41 if u prefer, but kmeaw works great i havent had a problem installing a pkg file yet i think kmeaw can install 3.41 and 3.55gh pkg's and with miltiman u dont need any modified eboots or anything, all i did to get my gt5 working was start multiman on kmeaw and rip the game, after that works flawlessly and i didnt have 2 use a disk to play it... my vote is for kmeaw i love it and no dongle needed... all u need to play you backups on kmeaw is the kmeaw firmware on any usb flash drive on fat32 there are tutorials on how to install kmeaw on youtube... after that all u need is any Backup Manager... (that is the pkg just the program u install on ps3) of your choice i suggest multiman or rogero... then just backup your games and have fun!! there are no need for eboots for games to work with kmeaw
you are wrong, kmeaw requires 3.55 fw wich isnt reversible, or it isnt safe to reverse..
what about eboot and signed pkgs?
what do signed pkgs do?
To your questions:
1. They have got nothing to do with each other in the context you are using them with.
2. Signed .pgks don't do anything special. They have just been signed with the key that Sony used before firmware 3.56.
thanks chinese, but to the end user, what does it means?
what do i do with them, besides inflating my ps3 with code?
why are you avoiding Kmeaw? nothing wrong with it……Waninkoko is the one that had all the problems, but not heard anything bad about Kmeaw CFW…playing GT5 is easy as ripping it like any other game….
As of 1/26/2011:

Signed pkgs allows you to run backups directly from xmb , like if it was psn games.
Some games run only with this method on my ps3 , so this is the way i prefer to play , but the bad new is you have to copy the game on a specifique folder for each game.
thanks mikerinos, btw, signed pkgs need any special stuff, like modified firmware? can u do it just with the ps3key?
bitsbubba: what about the bricked consoles or blu ray issues when trying to reverse it?
