Normally I wouldn't even start a thread about something like this, since there are tons of them. But I am having problems. I have tried EVERYTHING…even that Auto Mod Tool that was just released on PS3News…Fail, Fail, Fail…100% fail…it never works properly…The ONLY success i have had is when I download one off here that is already done. But, what I have a game that I want done that's not on here? Yea, I know I could request a game, but it just seems like more fun to do it yourself than try to let someone else do it for you (except on Gran Turismo 5 where the game is so long, it left me no choice but to download a hacked game save!)

    I have tried:

3D Dot Game Hero's - I got no where in it since it didn't have dev_bdvd

Monopoly Streets - Got it to show the dots at the bottom, then froze

Need for Speed Undercover - 80010007 error

3 Different games, 3 different problems and 0 solutions. I've tried these games MULTIPLE times, deleting, rebooting, renaming, etc….

The video was very lacking, for someone that tries to do a tutorial, it wasn't that great…he didn't even say up front you would need a Hex Editor….he supplied the files, but didn't say where to put them all. I used oopsIDied's tools, got nowhere at all. The text tutorial got me to the errors above…so at least they gave me a PKG file (except with 3D Dot Game Hero's)….So, a good All in One tool to do this would be nice….(that works, unlike that Auto_MOD_tool on PS3news), or an EXACT step-by-step video tutorial….no pausing, video editing, just straight up showing EXACTLY where files go, what to do, what Hex Editor to use, etc..I have even tried changing Hex Editor….I've done pretty much EVERYTHING the guide says do and not one single game worked

You're either not doing it correctly, or the games you're trying aren't compatible with just changing dev_bdvd to dev_hdd0. You have to look at the full path that the text string has before deciding what to change it to.

For example, if all you are seeing is dev_bdvd, changing it to dev_hdd0 probably isn't going to work. If you see something like: dev_bdvd/PS3_GAME/USRDIR then you would want to try changing it to dev_hdd0/OMG_GAME/USRDIR and then putting your game data files in dev_hdd0/OMG_GAME/USRDIR on your hard-drive.

I've had some issues where games haven't worked, and I've only had one success with making my own pkg files. I have had at least 3 of the PKG's posted here working though (AC:Brotherhood, Castlevania and Killzone 2), so this method does work for some games.

its alot of trial and error but hopefully someone can create a ps3 homebrewski that auto converts on selecting the eboot. i think that would even take alot of trial and error but we're moving at full speed here.

I've thought of writing a tool like this, but until I can effectively produce 100% boots, or at least figure out a way of determining which elf's can be patched to work and which can't, I really don't think it'll be useful.

Okay, I have 2 games that are on the list of games in the EBOOT thread, I will try to see if I can create an EBOOT out of my games and see if I am doing what I am supposed to, or whats going on….Gonna try with Dead Rising 2

Dead Rising 2 boots until it says "Game Data Corrupt" and forces me to exit…
Need for Speed Shift: Error 800100007

    100% fail
    0% success

    5 games tested

    I'm done…F*** this crap, glad I am on 3.41

I know it's probably stupid, but couldn't there be two different repositories? One for the internal PS3 HDD & one for external drives? Both have the needed EBOOTS, and other files. One convient place for the games that CAN be played from both types of drives.

I think I've tried with a few of mine, same silly error.
