    Hey,

So I downloaded the latest GT5 updates, from 1.05 to 1.09 and I am contemplating installing them.

The problem is, I'm on 3.41 and the updates are made for 3.50, therefore I will need to patch them.

I was wondering, how would one go about extracting the update, and patching the eboot?

I suspect patching the eboot would be simple, drag it onto the multiMAN EBOOT tools, correct?

But what about finding the eboot, from the pkg file? How do I do that?

If anyone can help, it would be greatly appreciated.

    You're both wrong.

You can use newer updates, so long as they are not firmware 3.60 and above.

The update that I want, version 1.09, is 3.50 FW. It is the last GT5 update on 3.50 FW, as 1.10 and above to the newest (2.0) are all 3.60 or 3.70.

The reason I can't use the update is because I am on 3.41 FW, therefore I can't play 3.50 games/use 3.50 updates without a patched EBOOT, hence I ask how can I patch it?

Game updates don't come in NPDRM either, that's DLC/PSN content..

If you don't know what you're talking about, then please don't comment, because both of you just wasted my time.

    Welcome to the internet.

If you've got the skills (and of course right now you DON'T) all you really have to do is extract the files from the update package (using either makeself NPDRM or one of the windows/mac based programs such as force_package_npdrm). Then you unself, search for 3.50 in a hex editor, change it to 3.41, makefself (or a newer version of makeself), repackage the file (if you've got PSl1ght you can repackage and re-encrypt it at the same time) and then install.

Anybody can do it really... Kinda surprised nobody has. Not even me!

Finally a proper answer. Do you know where I can get the tools needed to extract the files from the update package?

Update your firmware to Kmeaw, then you can use your GT5 1.09 update with no worries. Why keep on 3.41 anyway???

I prefer 3.41 for a reason, I'll stick to it thanks.
