For now, that is correct, as what else is there to do with CFW besides play backup or develop something?

Its is the goal of legitmate Homebrew developers to create apps for mulitple purposes and their own games, but of course those nasty 'pirates' have to come and shadow any such developments. Its why Sony keeps harboring on this is only to allow pirating.

i see what the OP's getting at but it would be a pain to keep reflashing from CFW to OFW and vice versa just to install something but it sound like all he's got is a backup manager installed so just staying on OFW is fine, i suppose the goal would be to integrate geo's install pkg into say multiman and then you could install straight onto OFW
Well, the install package option isn't essential either once you have ftp, file managers and nice apps like ps3load to transfer files direct from PC.
can you update multiman in OFW?
Yes since it has updating built-in you don't need to be able to install the package anyway. But even if it didn't, it's just as easy to ftp a new eboot over as install the whole thing again.
i was under the impression that you needed a usb stick in to download it too then install it through the install pkg option, or was that the older versions?

You are not only on Geohot's CFW. But a peek&poke cfw also Wutan maybe?

How can it work with the poke syscall not there? Multiman and any other app can't insert their payload into the memory without the poke syscall enabled
