For some time now, it has boggled my mind why so many people request this feature and get upset when said game does not work using discless mode. I don't see the problem. You put a game in (one game, any game) and leave it there. Job done!

    Now don't give me some lame excuse like you're lazy. You had to do so much work turning on the damn machine;
    1. Press power button on console/press PS button on controller
    2. Turn on TV
    3. Turn on sound system (if relevant)
    4. Sit down
So many steps, how could God expect you to invest the energy into giving the PS3 a disc?

Further, if you argue that removing the disc is a nuisance when you want to use a blu-ray or other type of disc, here's something to consider. You can:
    A) Not mod your console. Swap discs for every different game and every other disc type.
    B) Mod your console. Swap discs for everything but games.

    So whatsa problem?

Because some people, like myself, have PS3's with a dead laser so it will never read a disc again unless you replace the laser with what could possibly another laser with short life left on it since you can not buy the lasers brand new again.

Or I could pay sony $150 to replace it..... but **** that.

It's because people buy cheap ps3s with broken blu ray drives and want perfect functionality.

Or google for 5 minutes and spend ~$40 to make it work again. Or is a $300 investment not worth it?

It boggles my mind why you are pressing the power button on the console cuz when you press the PS button on the remote the console turns on.

Not everyone has the cash to own a fully functional console, why do you think they are here stealing games?

You see that magically angled line the middle of step 1? That's called a slash.

And once I have pushed the power button on my PS3 (or power.eject combo for JB), how do you propose I turn on my controller. Does it have voice activation?

when my blu-ray drive was broke it wouldn't even run homebrew :|, i disagree with the point your trying to make.

i agree with OP. just leave a game disc in there.

however, when we had to use the power eject dongle method i could see why this is a good feature as it was sort of over using the blu ray drive mechanism. but now that is a thing of the past.

If you are still pushing power > eject to JB you are way behind the curve. Maybe you should update your firmware instead of worrying about someone elses BR drive.
