Do you really think that patching EBOOTs and installing packages of these EBOOTs to appear like PSN games and be launchable from XMB is really "backup support"? And we are debating if geohot knew that would happen or not? lol

I hope you can accepting staying at 3.55 forever and accept not playing games built with FW higher than 3.55 if this is the backup support method

Well, yes. 3.55 at the moment is a non-issue for most people because all games function normally (it's the latest fw, after all) and all homebrew should work as well since running unsigned code is no longer a factor.

Only reason that wouldn't be the case is: a. bd drive is broken, b. very indiscreet pirating faggotry.

Most people obviously fall under a.

No of course it's not backup support, how silly of all of us! None of the games are of course working from this method.

Also future games will obviously be only workable on 3.41 since EBOOTs can only be edited for 3.41 use and 3.55 won't launch edited EBOOTs. Damn it guys we all must be insane to keep posting these EBOOTs and saying they're working .

Let's just stop this illusion and not have any 3.55 backups.

there's no problem with 3.55 backups right now... the problem will be in 3.60, i'm sure it'll ask npdrm even for charging the controller's battery, and then we will be busted and beggin geohot for his tools :'(

anyway, if you can, stay at 3.41

Who said finding the NPDRM is impossible?

And that is assuming they can even implement NPDRM on the BDVD EBOOTs.

    Why wouldn't they?

You misunderstood me. I'm not saying they wouldn't. I'm saying would it work, or are do BDVD games have to have open EBOOT.BINs. I'm thinking of the PSP for instance, they haven't put the same DRM as PSN games into UMD ones. But of course maybe they can, I'm just speculating. If they can why didn't they do it from before? Why do one EBOOT.BIN open and the other NPDRM?

Anyway the point is moot, if shit like this happens then the rush for NPDRM keys will increase and they'll be released eventually.

I don't think they could/would as all the older non-npdrm games would not run anymore, but then again it's not like Phony has every disabled/taken anything away!

when accepting the conditions in 3.60 will tell you to get online each time you want to install an old game and update to the lastest patch or one already npdrm signed
They know that we don't have it yet... this should be the reason why they don't have updated the system yet... have to sign every game released, much work... and yes, eventually we'll got a way so they are doing a worthless effort
