No, in the first step I copied the entire game to dev_hdd0/games/
The game came as a folder, BLES00948 or something similar. This is how you would install it if it was being pirated, and this is how I did it in the first place due to me not knowing how to rip it. (I downloaded it because I didn't know you could rip from BD-ROM, otherwise I would have just done that and it's what I'm doing now).
I'm not sure if that step is necessary because in the archive you posted is everything besides the data folder (I think). So in actuality you could just skip step one and just copy your archive over to BLES00001 then copy your downloaded data folder from BLES00948/usrdir to bles00001/usrdir and you would be good. But the instructions I posted are exactly how I did it, step by step, and I know for sure it works that way so that's the way I posted it.
By the way, someoneCRO, thanks for your help originally. I wouldn't have gotten the game working if it weren't for your post.
I'm glad, but I followed your tut and got a freeze.
I'm not sad because I didn't think much of the game, but I'll keep trying to see whether I could play it.
So you're still getting the freeze when leaving the stadium or do you get it somewhere else? You're using the eboot created by the .pkg, correct?
Basically all I had to do was follow your original tutorial, but instead of screwing around in FTP and copying the data folder from BLES00948 where I had already installed the game to the BLES00001, I just copied the original data folder off my computer into it. Also, BLES00001 already existed for me in the original dev_hdd0/game folder (not dev_hdd0/GAMES, which I use for my backup managers).
Make sure you don't just copy the "DR2" folder in there. You have to copy what's inside- LICDIR, TROPDIR, USRDIR, ect. Then you install your data folder inside that USRDIR. The only thing that doesn't go in is the DeadRising2.pkg. That installs on your USB stick, you install it via XMB. It creates your eboot that you use to launch the game instead of the backup manager.
I did a little editing of that tutorial to make more clear the difference between dev_hdd0/game and dev_hdd0/GAMES. If you tried it so far and it didn't work you should try it again from the start.
I was playing the game on 3.55 GH so I know the difference between PKG and LICDR,USRDIR etc...
I basically followed my tut:
1.Installed PKG first
2.Transfered everything from .rar to the BLES00001 folder
3.Transfered data folder to USRDIR in BLES00001
4. Rebooted PS3,started the eboot
The gam won't load, just black screen.
I used this same method on GH and it worked perfectly.
im confused and very new @ this do i have to ftp to do this? and if so how do you ftp, i had just copied the game to my ps3 with rogero game manager thing and i have wanikokos cfw, if i dont have to ftp what do i do just copy that rar file onto a thumb drive or something?
in step 2 you say this
Transfered everything from .rar to the BLES00001 folder
where is that folder? is it on the actual ps3 or a thumb drive or do you get to it with ftp?
Yeah I'm getting a black screen now as well :/ oh well maybe I'll just delete the files and start over. Game gets kinda old anyways... Are all the pkg files like this or just this game? referring to the disappearing from xmb part.
BLES00001 is a folder that shows up in /devhdd0/game/ after you install the dead rising 2.pkg onto your ps3
