Well, I plan on buying a couple PS3 consoles in the morning, a long with a couple of games. They're more than likely going to be the slim 320 gb models, will more than likely have 3.55 installed. What I'm wondering is, is there anyway to load backups on a brand new slim?

I do not condone piracy, I buy every game I play, I just prefer to back up disc based games due to having several animals and kids around. I haven't seen much information on what bricks what, what's compatible with what.

I'd appreciate any info given, sorry if I'm breaking any rules by posting here, if I am just let me know and it wont happen again.

I own probably over 1,000 games on various platforms, over 100 of which are legally purchased PC games.

I'm mainly wondering if I can install kmeaw with the lv2.pkg, and then use multiMAN, all on 3.55 of course. It'll be a brand new slim out of the box, since I'm purchasing it from Best Buy first thing in the morning.

Pretty much you just answered your own question, most prefer kmeaw, as it is very stable, and yes MM is the way to go for me aswell, tho i have other BM's installed as backups

But yeah, no reports of a kmew brick so far bud

Ah, I just heard some issues with the lv2.pkg used to allow backups to load. Would it cause a brick on a brand new console?

with most backup managers the lv2.pkg is no longer needed, as they patching incorporated the way it should be

I suggest multiMAN for backup management as it has the most function

I dont think so bud, before i guess it would cause freezing in some games, not sure if that was the reason or not tho.

i bought 2 slims like 2 to 3 weeks ago from best buy and they came with ofw 3.40 and 3.42, went to ofw 3.55 and then kmeaw from recovery mode and both work great, freezing is a none issue anymore with the latest mm which does not need lv2 pkg installed anymore.

so honestly, theres always, always a risk of bricking, but thats mostly if you dont do your homework(which btw is easy) and mess it up yourself..

so kmeaw is the safest in my mind.

if you're buying brand new from bestbuy then you'll have 16k nand. It was the earlier models from '06 '07 and possibly '08. I don't trust Waninkoko CFW if that's why you ask. He rushed the release without proper testing, and bricked quite a few PS3's in the process, he knows alot more about the Wii then he does the PS3

Alright, thanks. I'm also just wanting to get a PS3 before they start shipping them out with 3.56, I just want something ready for when real homebrew starts rolling out, not all these backup managers.

pretty much all homebrew work also without lv2 patching, except a couple. the best compatible CFW I would say Kmeaw 3.55 hands down
