I can't seem to be able to get my copy of Prototype to backup to either internal or external drive. I have tried the same disc with Gaia, Rogero, Hermes and Multiman and still no joy.

It's currently freezing at 47% and won't go past this, at first it was sticking at 6% but I had a go with Hermes and it went past the 6% mark, unfortunately I was just heading out for the night so decided to leave it running as I didn't have time to wait, it ran for more than 24hrs and when I came back it was still stuck on 47%.

I've had a look at the disc face, there doesn't appear to be any noticable damage.

This is the 2nd disc in my collection I can't seem to backup, the other was Devil May Cry 4. I'm stumped as to the cause.

I am running a first gen fat 60Gb with Kmeaw 3.55 ... any ideas on what the issue might be?

As a side point, is there any software that can dump a copy of the game onto my windows computer, I can then simply just transfer it to my ext HDD that way?

Only possibilities are 1. scratched\faulty disc 2. hard drive full? (2. is very unlikely though and simply a guess I have no idea how a PS3 behaves if you rip a game with higher capacity than remaining free space).
ps3haze - I love the fact that everyone has these grand ideas with no idea what they're talking about... I'm not saying that I've done anything, but I have a good understanding of the complexities involved.

Can definately count out the hdd full option, I tried to copy to int which has about 65gb free and ext which has about 700gb free.

Disc looks fine but that's no guarantee I guess that it's all OK. I had original updated my game before and had some save games on the system for Prototype, I decided to delete all of these and try again incase this was affecting it. I'll post the result in 10 mins time.

One thing I notice, Multiman shows the game size as 12Gb (it stalls at around 5.7gb), a list of compatible games on this forum has it listed as roughly 6gb?

I have had issues with games hanging in the past. I actually used a small amount of tooth paste, rubbed it around good, and let it set for a couple minutes, then rinsed it off and dried it well and the game copied flawlessly after that. The disk didn't even seem to be scratched at the time. Hope this helps.
