I am not wanting to switch machines, but I have put in a lot of hours and have placed my profile and save file on a jump drive. If somehow the save file gets corrupted or deleted could I put the flash drive into the SAME PS3 and copy both the profile and save file? Would it let me play that save file? Thanks in advance.

i honestly don't see why not. you may also want to use the ps3 built in system settings>backup utility. i remember when i switched ps3 hard drives(i had a 40gb), i did this to an external usb hdd using a dock and had to start the bigger hdd over from stratch. afterwards, however, i was able to restore the save data. there was other stuff like i the pictures, etc. i couldve saved but chose not to. hope this helps.
