Hello,
I.m no noob to PS3 but a noob with the whole jail breaking. I have seen tons of vids on youtube and read hundreds of forums before I went on about doing it. I'm running Kmeaw 3.55 CFW and use Rogero 8.1 as my BM. I've also tried latest MM with BDEMU.pkg. I have backed up 2 of my games so far Socom 4 and GTA IV. They both backed up fine but won't play. Socom starts to boot thru the PS Move screen but after stops and gives me the 80010017 error. The back-up is made from my original so all the files are legit but I don't understand why I keep getting this error. So I tried an older game like GTA IV and it backed up fine but when I try to boot it, it freezes in a black screen and stays that way. I tried to "fix preff's" before I boot on both games and even use Kmeaw's Lv2 v6 to see if that helps but still same issue. Am I using the wrong CFW or BM? I also tried deleteing the games and re backing them up and still same issue. Should I reinstall my CFW? Could it be out of date?

Any help would greatly be appreciated..

Sounds like you're doing everything right, you just picked 2 problematic games to backup. Do a search in these forums. There are threads with solutions to both of them. (I think Socom 4 needs some modified files, and GTA4 requires something changed to work)

I just read more forums on these games and yea you guys are right. they are problematic =( However I did mess about and backed up my UFC 09'. after it finished I launched the game disc by accident and then my back-up with the disc ejected and it worked perfect. I tried the same with GTA and it started to boot up but now at the early cartoon loading screen it'll dim/music will get quiet and the loading phase will loop. If any of yall can help any further I'd greatly appreciate it, meanwhile I will do more research =)

Just remove update data for GTA IV and you will be fine. Delete game data and let it install again. Don't update the game.
Select+X works too, but it's only for games on external HDD.

Socom 4 is a new game, and wants a newer firmware than 3.55, you can bypass this it by replacing EBOOT.BIN. It's on this forum.
