Backup manager can only back up some games?

Hello Guys,

I am currently using Multiman ver 2, and I have been able to create backups for most of my games either on internal or external.

However, I recently tried to back up motorstorm and call of duty black ops with no success.

I load the disc in my blue ray drive--> Multiman reads it--> I attempt copy and ripping begins.

At around 35% (Call of duty black ops)
At around 14% (Motorstorm)

Multiman stops copying to either external or internal (i tried both) but the time remaining still goes up. I have tried waiting but it just never progresses any farther.

Here are some of my hypotheses for the issues:

1) The game disc has a problem.
Conflict: This doesnt really make sense because multiman clearly "sees" the disc and when I try to run the game from the disc (not multiman) it works. Perhaps the disc is fine and some other issue?

2)My blue ray reader is messed up?
conflict: cant be because i can read and play games and backup other games.

3) My internal hard drive or external hard drive has an auto sleep function based on time?
Conflict: cant be because I was able to back up metal gear solid 4 (30gb) which takes even longer than COD or motorstorm.

4) COD or motorstorm have files greater than 4gb and its causing an issue?
Conflict: Cant be because Metal gear solid 4 has files over 4gb and I can back it up (even on external) thanks to Dean for his hard work making multiman able to split and recompile split files.

So.... I'm stuck.

Please provide any information or your hypotheses which are not already addressed above. If you have issues with my reasoning please let me know I am rather new to backups and such.

I'm having the same issue with making a backup of heavyrain. Portal 2 worked fine, but I'm also having issues with my PS3 freezing sometimes on startup and corrupting the HDD. Not sure if these issues are related or not

I've backed up COD Blackops with MM no problems but I do acknowledge your problem.

I had a similar problem backing up especially larger games with certain backup managers and found that by trying another manager, the problem would be sorted. So that could be a solution.

Other games on the other hand do take quite a long time to backup. Sega and Sonic All Start Racing for example at around 2GB takes several hours and there are a number of others like this. I backed up COD BO a long time ago so I can't recall if there was such an issue with that game but it could be. Solution - wait longer.

Another possible cause is that you're trying to backup a game to a location/drive with insufficient space - which can be tricky to determine with any real accuracy on a PS3 - especially if you've backed up and deleted a few things over time. Also, I recall trying to backup a game in the early days of JB'ing whilst there was a usb key attached to the PS3. The backup would seem to go on forever and then stop and it was only later that I found that I inadvertently had tried to backup to the usb key!

If none of the above applies to you then I guess you have be sure you are dealing with complete and clean data/discs.

i use rogors v 8.2 to back up all my games. And knock on wood has worked great. I have all three bm on my ps3. Rarely use MM. Iris to play split games. Mostly Rogors to play and back up everything. Its flawless.
