Backing up for the First time

Im new with PS3 and I want to backup all my games and saves to my WD 500gb HD. My Hd has been already formatted to fAT32 I just have a few questions:

1. If I use the PS3 backup utility (Settings>System Settings>Backup Utility) does it save everything including themes,save games, games that is stored in the internal Hd of the Ps3?

2. I have looked around and findout you can copy the ps3 games using a manager. Whats the difference between using Multiman/Gaia Manager or using the Ps3 backup utility and which is more reliable?

The ps3 backaup systems, copy everything, all, save, trophy, lost file from an old backup, psn games, backup manager, games... every single byte got copy, that's why it takes some hours to do the process
