Backing up Final Fantasy XIII Issues
Several compatibility lists report this game working from internal. I wouldn't mind if it was a known incompatibility, but simply haven't seen that reported anywhere.
Failing a more direct answer, has anyone else around here either gotten this specific game to backup from disc? Alternatively, seen this same / similar problem?
I don't mind waiting for a fix, just good to know you are not alone with your issues.
Seems education is cheap when it comes to questions with easy answers. Google it! Read up! Try stuff before you ask!
Nobody with any advise? Surely this is a valid question....
-NO- backup manager works to rip my valid and owned ps3 game to internal? Wut?
Strange, my copy of Final Fantasy XIII transferred just fine, though it did take an hour and a half or so due to the large size and slow read speed of the optical drive in the PS3.
Have you tried using an FTP client or file manager to manually transfer the files off the disc onto your HDD?
I myself, and 2 friends have gotten this game to copy. Also launch from modified eboot to gaia with kmeaw patch. I have however had issues with other games. Believe it or not and it may sound dumb but if I do it maybe you do. I neglect to check the read side of my discs before putting them in I figure if it's in a case then it's probably good but I've had a few discs my brother borrowed that stopped at random points during copy. cleaned them up put them in and with the same manager that failed they copied the whole disc. so try cleaning it if it's clean you may have a bug or corrupt data.
I wouldn't be so questionable if it wasn't an across the board failure, at the exact same spot. It's the same across backup managers.

I'm willing to believe either, but I'm questionable as it's a problematic game: 40+ gigs, files over 4 gigs, etc. I know this can cause issues, but it should work fine via internal due to the limited reports I've seen.
As it freezes at the EXACT same point across the board with backup managers, that's pretty specific. Only a few causes I can think of:
1. Across the board failure on backup managers
2. Damages to the disc itself. (Not likely - Clean as can be, no physical signs of damage etc)
3. Payload limitations. Can not rip due to limitations of what we have to work with.
I can understand any of the above three, but limiting what my actual problem may be is sufficient enough!

Excellent info. I thank you for knowing it worked in your situation(s)! That is indeed useful. Perhaps I can track down the problem yet!

this & god of war 3 are the only games i have personally backed up, and i used Comgenie's Awesome File Manager to do so, which took several hours.
It split the file that is over 4GB into 2 parts, the game ran fine from the external drive contrary to just about every post or compatibility list online.
I only made it about halfway through the game cause its terrible, so I can't be certain if it would crash when the 4+GB file is required, but it definitely plays.
I think the 4gb file is the final video/clip. So should play through til you finish it.

BTW, horrible, horrible game
Hi, i'm having a similar problem, mine is that the game freezes the backup at 93%, i've also tried different backup managers, tried cleaning the disc, the only thing i've haven't tried is over ftp.
i'm trying to copy it right now and it's at 93% stuck...
i don't have any other ideas how to copy this...
later will try over ftp.
sorry not to be more helpful and for my lame english has been over a year since my last post in english.
