The true battle begins. I can confirm that Assassin's Creed Brotherhood has been made with the 3.50 SDK, opening the EBOOT.BIN with a hex editor proves this. The game does not run with the version spoofer.
After riding high on our victories from MoH up to Black Ops it seemed we could run the newer games at ease. But those were sheep in wolves clothing (to turn a famous English saying on its head). This was due to the fact that despite requiring higher firmwares in their .sfos, the SDK of the EBOOT.BINs were all within our requirement of 3.41.
Now we have the first game that will probably be calling for files located in 3.50 only. If a debug EBOOT.BIN exists, will it even help us out this time? (as it too could require 3.50) [EDIT: Veritas? says that debugs will not be an issue in this regard, as the AC Brotherhood ones are available and only require 3.30. Thanks for the information.] Even if we get the game to run, the calls to 3.50 (assuming they exist) will be problematic. The true battle has begun.
What weapons do we have in our arsenal? Well graf_chokolo's 3.50 decryption could allow us to emulate 3.50 (I believe he said he has the flash files). Then there is the possible 3.50 downgrader, which if made open source like PSG, could allow us to upgrade, enjoy the latest games, and go back down when we're done. Ideally we could see a mesh of these solutions, and use the downgrader to write a custom firmware that is 3.50, except with our friendly USB Hub Exploit left intact.
I have the EBOOT.BIN ready for attachment for potential crackers to investigate. However only if the admins/mods don't mind.
Credit to Norda, who actually has the game and confirmed this with me. He'll be getting GT5 today or tomorrow too, so we'll learn the fate of that game as well.
Nice heads up - hopefully graf_chokolo's work will find out some interesting stuff. Until then I subscribe to the notion of rip some buy some, you don't get everything for free. Thats why I have 2 PS3s. One for tinkering and one for legit online.
