Someone else who has the game has confirmed the debug update with .sfo change doesn't work.
The Black Ops method uses a retail update in addition to debug files doesn't it? Thing is AC Brotherhood doesn't have a retail update yet.
EDIT: This is what I mean, from the CODBO thread:
After you install the pkg launch a FTP server and go to /dev_hdd0/mms/db/ and search a file called metadata_db_hdd open it in a hex editor and search 3.50, and change to 3.40
Probably still worth a try though, if he didn't yet.
Here is MRDOCA's guide to making modded eboot files:
I'll give it a go when my copy arrives.Quote:

I'm sure this will be got working, along with GT5 i hope which im praying for the most. Alot of bright minds here and im sure you guy's will figure out a way, that im certain of.
Also this game is in the process of being upload to all the "usual places" so more people can work on it.
GT5 prologue did not have patches on the sony servers, they were downloaded direct from dev servers after sign in to PSN ingame. GT5 will almost definitely work the same, I'd be quite surprised if any debug patches came up in the usual way. It is also very likely to be fully compiled for 3.50, not just the EBOOT only.
Of course if I'm wrong it'll be a nice surprise indeed but I think it would be really stupid of them to allow this loophole.
