I've been beating my head on a wall over this for the past week, and I don't know what else to try. I've been trying to back up (or even just run) my copy of AC: Brotherhood (US Retail version). I'm running a fat 40 gb PS3 with kmeaw CFW. The back up process works fine; I don't get any errors while copying the game (to either ext hdd or internal--and I've tried backing it up multiple times in case there was an error the first time). The game also runs fine, except that I don't have any sound except for during cimeatics (and the intro).

I've tried all of the following things:

-Updating the game [using just about every update package I could find]
-Switching my audio output from HDMI to RCA plugs (and switching back)
-Different managers: Rogero v8, MM 1.15.01, and Gaia 2.06
-Copying to both external and internal
-Reflashing my PS3 (I've actually tried Waninkoko v1 and v2 and still had no success)

I can turn on subtitles and play the game that way I suppose, but I'd really like the sound to work. I am running with another official PS3 disc in (COD: BO [though I've also tried GOW3 and the actual ACB disc]).

What else can I do? I took my game to my friend's house who has an unmodded slim ps3 and the sound works fine.

Thank you in advance for any help you can give. I'm getting so frustrated with this I just don't know what else to try... I haven't had any problems with any other games...

Have you tried the latest multiman and used the Select + X way of running the game?

Yes I have tried the latest Multiman with Select + X, and I have an original BD in the drive (tried with both COD: Black Ops and Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood discs).

    I have a 40gb PS3 fat (CECHH model).

Go to sound settings (in xmb) and choose the output you're using (probably hdmi or optical if you're having this problem) and choose automatic settings.
Still no sound? Know what format your TV/Receiver accepts? Choose manually!
Don't know which to choose? Stick with 44,1 and 48 KHz PCM stereo, crappier sound, but all systems that have digital input accept it.

The reason why you have some sounds is that they were recorded in different formats, some higher quality than others (eg higher sample rate, and/or more channels), so the higher quality sounds have to be downsampled to meet the standard of TV-sets and old/crappy receivers, like mine is. And somehow the CFW's change your standard settings...phew!

    That should be all!

Quick random question... I only have */app_home/PS3_Game/ on my XMB. Should I also have a game disc icon?

/app_home/PS3_Game/ to boot it discless. Game disc icon if you have the disc icon inserted. How about this one?

I made the mistake of not running it with a disc in the drive the first time and the sound completely cut out after the intro. The game then hard crashed and the PS3 wouldn't stay in XMB longer than a few seconds without crashing. I had to rebuild the system files in the recovery menu to fix it.

So yeah, run with a disc!

Hmm... I have never had a game disc icon since I jailbroke my PS3... what could cause this and how can I fix it? I've been reading tutorials but haven't found anything that explains this. Sorry to be a noob :-\ I kept reading about the disc icon and realized that this is probably the root of my problem.

I do have an official ps3 game in the drive.
