Why has it been decided to write this article now, to incite panic?

This article mentions nothing we didn't already know, amd peppers it with what I percieve to be bullshit.

"a group of 'experts' claim it is near impossible for hackers to retro-hack"

What? Who?

I could have written an arcitle which reads.

"A group of experts have indicated that we are close to decrypting sony official updates"

Also MVCUK have a less than savoury past when it comes to commenting on hacks and cracks.

heh if i had a dime for every doomsayer in the world i'd buy everyone here a brand new ps3 and develop a ps3 undetectable modchip and still have tons of cash left over,

Does that mean that EVERY game, whether new/old will have firmware?
OR...
EVERY game that is NEW[e.g. LBP2] will have the firmware?

Probably part of the reason why Gran Turismo 5 wont be released until later.

i'm just too happy to play the current library of games to worry about future games..

but still hopes someone makes a workaround..
