I wonder if mods could make a 3.41 section and sticky it so all the 3.41 users could gather and have a wealth of information all in one place? We could have an eboot bin/fix repository only for games that are working on 3.41... as well as an area where 3.41 users could help each other with tech problems... Where's the love..?

Just wondering, whats making you stay with 3.41? Why not just update to 3.55 ?

Who would run it and gather up all the info? As far as I know all the PS3 guys here are on 3.55 or latest official firmware. I always wonder too about people holding out on 3.41 since everything is geared towards 3.55. You can still have your linux. The only thing I can think of is 3rd party controller support keeping you on 3.41

Well I have another machine on 3.55, I'm not opposed to it, it's just that my main machine is on 3.41hermes and I get to keep my 3rd party controller functionality. 3.55 has no benefits over 3.41 since booted off psn, 3.55 requires eboot fixes as well. The only benefit to using 3.55 that I can see is that it's the most popular and easier to get certain fixes etc for. Hermes 3.41 is what I've been with ever since I moved from the amazebreak dongle, which used ofw 3.41, when 3.55 came out I already had too much time and money invested into my setup with 3.41 so I wasn't interested in using it. I lived in an area where my internet connection was not sufficient to play online anyway so it had no appeal to me. After a while I did get another ps3 which came with stock 3.55ofw so I installed kmeaw on that one in order to access some of the things that weren't available at the time for 3.41, occasionally things will come out for 3.55 only and I will use it for that purpose. My main console however has a 2tb external which is full of games, (there is about 13g free), all these games are patched or fixed for 3.41. When I buy a game I copy it and put it in storage at home and I take my ps3 on the road with me when I travel for work. I travel all over the US for my job and I am not interested in taking huge piles of ps3 games with me when I can simply take one external hdd which fits in a briefcase with the ps3 and hookups/controllers. When I buy a game that doesn't work or hasn't been fixed yet I keep the backup in a separate folder on my external until a fix is made that way it doesn't show up in multiman unless the game is working. The idea of having all my games on a hard drive instead of in huge stacks is what made me hack my console in the first place. It's much easier when you are traveling a lot. I currently have about 200 games on my external that are working just fine. With the new fixes coming out though I think I may have to move to a 4tb external! (hopefully, that is if the fixes will be made for 3.41!) The devs have been very good about making everything, fixes, software etc for both 3.41 and 3.55 cfw so it hasn't really been much of an issue until recently. I don't use 3rd party controllers because I haven't found any I really like. The main reason for staying is because of all the time and money invested into my current setup with 3.41. That being said, on ps2 I had 3rd party controllers that I really liked and I had always hoped to find some for ps3 but haven't yet, they were the nerf wireless controllers, man I loved those things! Hope to see some eventually for ps3.

Sorry for the rant! I guess the short answer would be that I have so much time invested.

I wouldn't have time to run it but I would be happy to donate all my 3.41 files to anyone willing to do so. I keep all my fixes and software on a hard drive and have since the beginning so I have a pretty large archive of 3.41 stuff I would be willing to share.

Edit: As far as info goes I could help out with that in my spare time. I'm on psx-scene pretty much everyday and I get updates sent to my phone from here so I could help 3.41 users with tech problems.

FYI: I believe the PS3 will only recognize up to 2tb on an external drive.

yes about above. It might be possible to split it into 2 partitions. The first half as FAT32 and the second as NTFS, but it might not work. You could either end up being able to only use 2TB or not being able to use it at all. The drives are too expensive to try on a maybe

I can verify that a half NTFS, half FAT32 works fine. That's how my external is set up, althought it's two 1tb partions on a 2tb drive not a 4tb drive.

Anyway, back on the original topic. Are the eboots for 3.41 unsigned or not encryped? I thought I heard that somewhere. Otherwise they should play fine on 3.55 right? In any case, if you want to stay on 3.41, I'd suggest learning how to decrypt eboots. I don't see the scene becoming more friendly to 3.41.

Are you guys positive about this? I had read somewhere that there is no limit for external. My eventual goal was to get an 8 bay hard drive caddy to have a total of 16tb available as I don't really have a limit on what I can spend on games I wanted to collect all available games that would work on 3.41. There is no way I'm doing that if I have to keep all the discs on hand though. Also I don't really like the idea of having to swap hard drives in order to access all the games. Can anyone verify this? Any users around that have reached the end of their double tb drive? What have you done? Just get another one and plug the drive in that has the game you want to play? That sounds awful. I really like having all my games accessible from the xmmb. I'm at the end of my 2tb drive now and am about to have to get more space so anyone who has first hand experience on this issue please tell me your story. It would really burn if I bought a 4tb drive and moved all my games to it only to have it not be recognized and have to move it back to a 2tb or 2 double tb drives. I guess if this is true, the only thing to do really is to have multiple 2tb drives sitting next to the ps3, this is not ideal for my situation but ya gotta do what ya gotta do I guess (still better than having 900+ game cases stacked up though). If I do have to resort to having multiple double tb drives to have all the games, would it work to use a usb port multiplier? Obviously if this is the case it would have to be one that plugs in and this sucks too because I have 2 power strips already full at my entertainment center where the ps3 is. Arggh! It seems like it would wear out the usb ports on the ps3 to constantly swap out the drives to play different games. My ps3 is a slim with only 2 usb ports.

Also, why would I split the 4tb drive into one fat32 and one ntfs? What would be the benefit of this? All my bigfile games work fine on external with the split files with the exception of GranTurismo 5 which only works on internal last I checked. Apparently GT5 goes corrupt if you split the bigfile. Multiman reassembles the bigfile and installs it to internal for each split game you want to play and I haven't had a problem with this yet. Though I have to delete the cache sometimes to add new ones because I only have the 120gb internal drive, which sucks. I intend to move to the 1tb internal now that one has been made available that will fit, I just haven't done this yet as I'm a little nervous about doing it for the first time. Anyway thanks for bringing this to my attention.

Not sure about the 3.41 eboots, the ones I have to share would be ones that make the games work on 3.41. I'm not sure what the status of those eboots are. You are correct about me learning how to decrypt my own eboots, and I have considered that but I am not a dev and I don't have time to learn how to be one. I'm just a person who tries to keep up with the scene I really don't know how to do anything but patch games via pkg file and swap out files such as eboots and params. If I had time to learn to do such things I definitely would, but I have to spend too much time working.

Some of the eboots I have are ones I fixed when multiman's eboot fix came out.

Edit: Changed the paragraph a bit because I got this topic confused with another one I am keeping an eye on, apologies.
