    [UPDATE - regarding 3.56]

ATENTION - DO NOT UPDATE TO 3.56 (for now at least...when its safe to update to 3.56 i will update the tutorial )

Now, for does who want to play online in 3.55, here it goes:

Instruction to go online without the update to 3.56 (only do this after having already done the initial tutorial):
1 - Go to the section "Settings".
2 - Keep going down until you find "Network Settings" and press "X".
3 - Search for "Internet connection settings" and enter.
4 - Will appear "Easy" or "Custom" (select “Custom”).
5 – Now you will choose the type connection. If it's "Wired Connection" or "Wireless" (choose according to your situation).

Instructions for those with a "Wired Connection":
    1- "Auto-Detect" or "Manual Settings" (select "Auto-Detect").
2 - "Automatic", "Manual" or "PPPoE" (select "Manual").
3 - Select the "IP Address" and press "X". Change it to "192.168.1.XXX" (the last number change it to something between 200 and 255) (the third number will be "1" or "2", depending on the router that you use ... but the important thing is to change only the last number)
4 - The "Subnet" and "Default Router" in principle do not need to change (in the "Subnet" has to appear "255.255.255.0" and "Default Router" as "192.168.1.XXX" (as already referred to the third number can change from "1" and "2" ... the last 3 numbers of the router can also be different from router to router, but is usually "101" or "1"))
5 - Change the "Primary DNS" for "67.202.81.137".
6 - Change the "Secondary DNS" for "67.202.81.137".
7 - Now go to the right.
8 - "Automatic" or "Manual" (select "Automatic").
9 - It will ask whether to use a proxy (select "Don’t Use").
10 - "UPnP"? (Select "Disable") (some routers need to connect).
11 - Be sure to make the right choices and press "X".
12 - Press "X" again to test the connection (you should see "Succeeded" in "Obtain IP Address", "Internet Connection" and "PlayStation ® Network).

You can now log in "Playstation ® Network"

Instructions for those with a "Wireless" (if you already did in “Wired Connection”, skip this):
1 - "Scan", "Enter Manually" or "Automatic" (select "Enter Manually").
2 - "SSID" or "your WiFi" (select "your WiFi").
3 - "WEP" or "WPA Key" (select according to your password).
4 - Enter the password of your Wireless.
5 - "Automatic" or "Manual" or "PPPoE" (select "Automatic").
6 - "Do Not Use" or "Set" (select "Do Not Use").
7 - "Automatic" or "Manual" (select "Manual").
8 - Change the "Primary DNS" for "67.202.81.137".
9 - Change the "Secondary DNS" for "67.202.81.137".
10 - It will ask whether to use a proxy (select "Don’t use").
11 - "UPnP"? (Select "disable") (some routers need to connect).
12 - Be sure to make the right choices and press 'X'.
13 - Press "X" again to test connection (you should see "Succeeded" in "Obtain IP Address", "Internet Connection" and "PlayStation ® Network).

You can now log in "Playstation ® Network"

    ========The beginning of the tutorial

    Tutorial - PS3 v3.55 Kmeaw's Jailbreak by ArcangelMikhael (that's me)

ATTENTION – Do not upgrade your firmware to v3.56

    Hardware Required:
    - Playstation 3 (obviously lol) + controller + power cord from the controller (any USB cable will do).
    - Computer operating system Windows XP, Vista or 7.
    - Flash drive with at least 512mgs and formatted in "FAT 32".

Instructions for formatting a flash drive in "FAT 32":
1 - Insert the flash drive into a USB port on your PC.
2 - Now open "My Computer". Locate the flash drive, press the right button of your mouse and select "Format ..." (a window will appear).
3 - Click on "File System" and select "FAT32".
4 - Make sure that the "Quick Format" is active. And click "Start". Then just wait for it to format (it is possible to give an error but ignore it if present).
5 - Let's create two folders on the root of the flash drive, one named "GAMES" and another named "PS3", inside the folder "PS3" create another folder named "UPDATE" (it is important that the names are in Caps Lock).

    Software needed:
    - Kmeaw's PUP (PS3 operating system customized)
    - Rogero Manager v8.0 (backup manager)

    Software Instructions:
1 - Make sure that the system has the PS3 official version 3.55.

Instructions to verify the version of the PS3:
1.1 - Turn on the PS3 (obviously). Once it starts, go to the left to find the "Settings" section. Now go down until you find "System Settings" and press "X". Go down again until you find "System Information", press the new "X" and check the version (if not in the version 3.55 you have to update) .

Instructions to update the PS3 to the official version 3.55 (if already in version 3.55, go to step "2"):
1 - Copy the file "PS3UPDAT_OFW.PUP" (you can found it in the "PS3/UPDATE /") to the folder inside the flash drive "PS3/UPDATE /" and change the name to "PS3UPDAT.PUP.
2 - Turn off the PS3 (press the button "Playstation" until the screen goes black with only two options. Select "Turn off the system". We now need to enter the "System Recovery Mode”.
3 - With the PS3 off, press the button "Power" of the console (and do not let go until it turns off).
4 – Press again the "Power" of the PS3, but now you will hear a beep and then two beeps (when you hear the two beeps…release the button and the PS3 will start the “Recovery Mode”).
5 - Insert the flash drive in one of the USB ports of PS3.
6 - Connect the controller to the PS3 with the USB cable and press the "Playstation" button to activate it.
7 – Now go to the last option "System Update" and press "X". The PS3 will ask you to press the buttons "Start" + "Select" to activate the search for the "update". The conditions of the install will appear, go to the right and select "Accept". There will be a question asking if you want to turn off the PS3 after the update or if you want only to start it (select "Start"). Now the PS3 will update the system (it will start normally without you having to leaving the Recovery Mode manually, if you see more indications of the kind of "found an HDMI connection" or whatever ... just follow the instructions).

Instructions to update the PS3 to version 3.55 of customized Kmeaw:
1 - Repeat the previous step "1" with the difference of using "PS3UPDAT_Kmeaw.PUP" instead of "OFW" and change the name to "PS3UPDAT.PUP" to the folder on the flash drive "PS3/UPDATE /" (it can only be one “PS3UPDAT.PUP" in this folder, in this case has to be the "PS3UPDAT_Kmeaw.PUP" with the name changed to" PS3UPDAT.PUP”).
2 - Copy the file "Rogero_Manager_v8.0_Kmeaw_Waninkoko_Syscall36__3. 55__3.41.pkg" (you can found it in the folder "Ficheiros/") to the root of the flash.
3 - Repeat the previous steps of the "2" to "7”.
4 - After the update you will notice that it has appeared two new folders in the "Game" section. One says "*Install Packages Files" (which will serve to install the programs to copy the games) and another that says "*/app_home/PS3_GAME" (which will only serve to start the games). Go to "*Install Packages Files" and press "X". Install the "Rogero_Manager_ v8.0.pkg”. Now you will find an icon in a shape of a controller named "Rogero Manager" (this will be your backup manager that will allow you to copy games into the PS3 and out of it).
5 - Remove your flash drive from your PS3.
6 - Turn off the PS3 by pressing the "PlayStation" and select "System Shutdown".

Instructions to copy (make backups) games for the PS3 hard drive:
    1 - Turn on your PS3.
2 - Enter into the "Rogero Manager".
3 - Now it will appear several questions about the folder that you want to save your games into the PS3. Go selecting "No" until "dev_hdd0/GAMES (here select" Yes ").
4 - It will appear another question of the same kind before, saying if you want your flash drive to read games in a "Z" (select "No"). Now appear with "S" (select "Yes").
5 - The next question is regarding the security mode in terms of file manipulation (select "No").
6 - Then appears another question "Would you turn off the FTP server?" (you have to think if eventually you want to make file transfers via your PC…select "No" If you will not).
7 - (next question) "Do you want to appear a background image when you select a game?" (Here is a matter of taste ... I personally like. So if you like select "Yes").
8 - (next question) "Do you want an animation to appear when selecting a game?" (Here is also a matter of taste ... I personally do not like the animation. So if you dislike select "No").
9 - (next question) "Do you want an animation to appear in the background when you select a game?" (Here is also a matter of taste ... I personally do not like the animation. So if you dislike select "No").
10 - (next question) "Want the sound off?" (Here is also a matter of taste ... I personally like listening to music. So if you like select "No").
11 - Insert the disc game that you want on your PS3. Now the "Rogero Manager" will read the disc ... and display the name of the game (along with a background image) (the disc has always come first in the list).
12 - Press the "Circle" to copy the game. The "Rogero Manager will ask if you want to copy to the PS3 hard drive (select "yes") (you may get a warning that says there are many small files and therefore will not display progress bar (select "Yes")).
13 - After finishing the copy press "X" to return to the manager. When you return, you will notice that the game appears twice ... this is normal, since in addition to the copy, the manager recognize the disc too. To know which is which, simply select one of the games and on the bottom of the manager you will find several blue boxes with the names "HDD” (hard drive of the PS3 + free space you have left), “USB # 1" (flash drive + the free space you have left) and "Disc" (game disc). The box that gets a lighter blue, is where the game is storage.

Instructions to copy the games from the PS3 hard drive or the game disc into a flash drive or external hard drive (which will also need to be in FAT32):
1 - To copy the game disc directly to the flash drive or external hard drive without going first to the PS3 hard drive, just do the step "3" above but with the difference that instead of selecting "yes", select "no”. You will see a similar option, but now the question of whether to copy the “USB # 1” (select "yes") (you may get a warning that says there are many small files and therefore will not display progress bar (select "Yes")) (you might still have another reminder that there are files larger than 4GB and the manager will divide these files in several pieces (select "yes ")...games that have those files , will appear with a "_" before the name).
1 - To copy from the PS3 hard drive to a flash drive or external hard drive, do the last step "3". This time it will ask if you want to copy directly to the “USB # 1" (because it’s the only place where you can copy off the drive hard drive, it will directly asks you if you want to copy in “USB # 1”). Select "yes".

Instructions to copy the games from a flash drive or external hard drive to the hard drive of the PS3:
1 - Before inserting a flash drive or external hard drive in the USB ports on the PS3 make sure on your PC that in the game folder that is on the flash drive or external hard drive is in the "PS3/GAMES" (example: “PS3/GAMES/BLES00909”).
2 - Insert the flash drive or external hard drive in the USB ports on the PS3.
3 - The manager will automatically recognize the game. Repeat step "3" above.

Instructions for starting a game from the PS3 internal hdd:
1 - Select the game you want and press "X" (the manager will go out automatically).
2 - Go up to "*/app_home/PS3_GAME”. Will appear an image of the selected game. Press "X" and play it
Instructions for starting a game from the flash drive or external drive (games with files larger than 4GB will not play):
1 - Select the game you want and press "X" (the manager will go out automatically) (any game with “_” is a game that have files larger than 4GB).
2 - Go up to "*/app_home/PS3_GAME”. Will appear an image of the selected game. Press "X" and play it

=(If you try to run a game and it goes to a "Black Screen", try this manager)=
    Instructions for installing Multiman:
1 - Copy files "lv2.pkg" and "multiMAN ver 1.15.01 BASE [20110202_220000].pkg" to the root of the flash drive.
2 - Insert the flash drive in one of the USB ports of PS3.
3 - Go to "*Install Packages Files" and press "X".
    4 - Install "lv2.pkg”.
5 - Go to "LV2" and press "X" (when you see a black screen with a few sentences in white, press "X" to take you back to the main menu).
6 – Now go again to "*Install Packages Files", press "X", but now install the "Multiman”.
7 - Turn off the PS3 by pressing the "PlayStation" button and select "System Shutdown".
    8 - Turn on the PS3.
9 - Insert a original game in your PS3 (you will need this to run the games in Multiman)
10 - Do the step "5" again (LV2 is necessary to run each time we turn on the PS3, for Multiman to run games).
11 - Start Multiman (it will appear 3 conditions to use the software, select "Yes" in all of them).
12 - Select the game you want to play and press "X" (it will ask if you want to boot the game directly ... select "No" ... The Multiman will now exit automatically).
13 - You will now see the game that you chose in the place that were supposed to be the original game that you previously inserted in your PS3 (if the game that you chose on Multiman has extras, you'll see two disks, one with the game and the other with the extras). Press "X" on the game disc and enjoy
    ==================================================

    Notes:
    - It is necessary to remind people that this is something illegal and as such do it at your own risk.
    - There are people who are complaining that the backups do not work (they all jumped steps). Do not skip steps. Follow all instructions to the letter.
    - If you play online, keep it in mind that people can see the software that online gamers have installed on the consoles (so Sony can see if you have unauthorized software on your console).

I want to thanks the hacker “Kmeaw" for his customized PUP.
My thanks also go to "Rogero" for the "Rogero Manager."
And since we're in thanks time ... I think i deserve it ... because I had the patience to create a tutorial that is understandable to any "computer layman" : p

lol yes that would be the cherry in the top of the cake... the idea is to do this in front of the PC and PS3.
But the text pretty much explains what it will appear in front of you every step of the way

Nice, I've been waiting for somebody to make a detailed tutorial on Kmeaw's CFW combined with Rogero Manager.

I tried to back up my Call Of duty black ops game but it got stuck at 99% when I was coping it with Rogero's stealth Manager. I had to unplug my ps3 Slim then run the game on Rogero but the screen would just turn black and freeze my PS3 so I just gave up. I might give it another shot......

    Thanks again for the tut.

Rogero stealth its just to go online...
Use the "Rogero Manager" (the standard one).

Or use Multiman or Gaia (but both of them requires to run the lv2 v6 first)

Only Rogero actualy works without lv2. The other two need the lv2 every time you start the PS3.
