[SOLVED] GT5 on Kmeaw (no, I'm not a noob)
[SOLVED] GT5 on Kmeaw (no, I'm not a noob) –
05-01-2011,04:25 AM
Hey guys,
I wouldn't post this, if I had not tried everything I can think of, so please help me getting that shitty game to boot, I only get a blackscreen and freezes
I'm on 3.55 Kmeaw, using Multiman 17.0.4 with BDEmu installed, ALL other backups work...
So here is what I did:
1) copied to internal /GAMES/BCUS98114-GT5/... (using Filezilla and BlackBoxFTP 1.2)
2) checked EBOOT.BIN and Param.sfo, both show v1.0 FW3.50. I even checked the md5 of the EBOOT (bb03cafe644b487b23c506133343a327). Can anybody confirm this? (EDIT: confirmed original) I don't need a modified EBOOT, right? 3.50 < 3.55
3) In Multiman, selected both "internal" and "Disk in Drive", mount the game, gives me blackscreen. Using "Fix-Permissions", then mounting again -> blackscreen. I tried EVERY combination in the "R1-Menu", no luck. Now, if I select "Direct boot", and try to start it, Multiman/PS3 just hangs up, no XMB and I have to restart the PS3. Why is that?
4) No data gets installed by GT5 when I try to start it, otherwise I would delete it before every launch attempt. So I tried to install update 1.05. Installs fine, but game behaves as before -> blackscreen
WTF? Where am I doing wrong?
Community, I need help...
---
You suggested fixes - I tried:
UPDATE: Just tried IrisManager 1.2, fresh boot, then fix-permissions, enabled "disc-in-drive, STILL the same -> blackscreen, no hang-up, I can do "quit game"
UPDATE2: Recovery mode, used the "Fix filesystem". It said the "filesystem is corrupted" Took like 1min to go to 100%, restarted. I tried to launch GT5 -> blackscreen as before.
UPDATE3: Tried to rename folder on dev_hdd0 "GAMES to GAMEZ" -> blackscreen as before
UPDATE4: Deleted backup folder on internal. Nothing else to delete, no gamedata installed. FTPed it again, after making sure the original rips' file sizes are matching those of others. using multiman, first did "fix permissions", guess what -> blackscreen
UPDATE5: New backup from original disc to dev_hdd0. NO change whatsoever, still getting a nice -> blackscreen
UPDATE6: Recovery mode again, fix filesystem again, now also rebuilding the database -> blackscreen
UPDATE7: SOLVED!

2) permissions were broken after FTPing AND after backing up. I was thinking, only FTPing could cause it (besides PL3), so thats new (at least) to me.
3) After running that .pkg (took like 1min) ALL versions I had by now start up without any issues. I had them all on the internal now, my original backup I made 3 months ago and the new backup from yesterday.

I'm pretty sure you will need the original EBOOT and PARAM.SFO I believe it's a 3.55 FW game

I made sure it's the original one, see my md5 in the first post. I am pretty sure it's a 3.50 game, remember all the crying when it was released and we were all on 3.41?

EDIT: I also tried Rogero, I will try IrisManager and see if it works, but that would not solve the issue with Multiman, common, anybody?

the md5 is correct, that is weird that that is happening, its possible the huge gt.vol file got courpted some how. but if i were you i would try iris manager (making sure to start it on a new boot as multiman leaves things behind in lv2) and using the fix permissions on iris, i've read many places that the fix permissions does not seem to work on multiman for whatever reason.

I know its weird, ALL other backups just work. Even MK
. Thanks for the tip with Iris, will try now. I'm no noob, of course I know that the managers leave their payload in memory, so I restart before using another manager. I also read, the fix-permissions .pkg was never ported to 3.55 and thats why it's not working in Multiman/Rogero. But wait, in Iris 1.2 it says in the changelog "Game Opt – Removed Perms option (We dont need this on 3.55)", thats confusing...
EDIT: Didn't get an error when FTPing the .vol with Filezilla, you suggest to copy it again? I'm not sure if thats the problem. Any other reason you can think of, why this might not work?

Try re-backing it up from original disc, mine seems to work fine REBUG 3.55+multiMAN, also never had a problem myself with multiMAN's or Rogero's implimented fix permissions (both latest editions) and yes Fix Permissions package has been ported to 3.55 (check the first link in my sig)

i did have your problem when kmeaw first came out and it would just black screen, i just formatted the hard drive and ran every option in recovery mode so it could be as factory as possible and it worked after that, that is overkill, but i didnt have anything important on my drive so i didnt care. it worked. so as a last resort (if you feel like doing it) i would do what i mentioned above, after FTP'ing the files over again and doing anything else you may think of.
