[Guide] Mortal Kombat 9
[Guide] Mortal Kombat 9 –

If you people actually read the information that is included with your copy, you won't have any problems. You know where to find the readme so I won't tell you how to obtain that. But it's easily available.
My setup : 3.55 CFW Kamew + multiman(it's not the latest version but I know the latest version will work.) Internal Hard drive, With the disc in the drive, 80GB PS3 NON BC 256 MB nand IIRC.
Simple guide for 3.41 and 3.55CFW
===3.55 CFW Kamew or any other CFW===
1. Obtain the game and place everything on your internal HDD(I don't know if it works on external.)
2. Run the patch that is included with the copy, for those that don't have the patch here it is.
Mortal Kombat 9 update patch : Multiupload.com - upload your files to multiple file hosting sites!
3. Run the fix permissions.pkg that should be installed on your PS3 from all the other backups you use. Actually use this one : http://ps3.dashhacks.com/downloads/fix-permissions The one built into multiman does not work.
4. Put in a RETAIL PS3 disc in the drive.
5. Boot up multiman and launch the game. Run it without directbooting it.
5.a If you are using another backup manager besides multiman you will have to manually edit the param.sfo to change it to 3.55 otherwise it will ask you to update to 3.56! Make sure you pay attention to this and don't hit buttons blindly or else you will screw yourself out of CFW.
6. Profit!!
3.41
1. Move the game over to your system.
2. not sure about the patch so I'm not gonna put that.
3. Use the included sprX and eboot.bin and put them in their required locations.
4. Insert a disc and launch the game.
5. Profit!
(I have not tested 3.41 so I'm not 100% sure on the instructions. So try with the patch, and if it doesn't work do it without.)
Again if you are having problems reread the instructions and try it again. The game works perfectly fine so you are doing something wrong.
Following these instructions you will be able to perform Xrays, Fatalities, and every other move in the game.
I have noticed that the combos in the game require pretty strict timing. I have been having problems with the basic combos as well. It's all in the timing and has nothing to do with any problems in the game. I believe the timing is even stricter than blazblue Continuum shift.
So if you are unable to do some of the combos like tag assist combo's or anything that requires more than basic triangle, triangle, Square type button presses you need to practice your timing. They do work but the timing is extremely strict!
Hopefully this helps everyone! If you are still having problems post in the thread and I'll try and help you out.

Shoot! Didn't see this thread when I posted my problem. Here goes:
Hi all... feeling a bit stumped here. Please help.
Trying the following with no success. Black screen.
3.55keamw fw
internal hdd
Uncharted 2 Game Disc in slot
1. Ftp Folder "BLUS-30522 - Mortal Kombat" containing 3 items: PS3_GAME, PS3_Update, and PS3_Disc.SFB - None of these have been altered at all... to //dev_hdd0/GAMES/
2. Put "UP1018-BLUS30522_00-MORTALKOMBATPTCH-A0101-V0101-PE.pkg" onto Memory stick. -> PS3. Click install pkg, select pkg and install. Installs fine.
3. Select Multimann. (newest versions, all my other backups crysis 2 etc work)
Select Mortal Kombat. Press R1 to Fix permissions. Press X to run Mortal Kombat.... booted back to XMB as usual.
4. Highlight Disc Icon (now show Mortal Kombat) and press X.
And now a black screen. What am I doing wrong? In the guide it says run fix permissions pkg but I assume the one in multimann does this. Is there a specific pkg I should look for? Please help... this is the first of my 30+ backups that I've had problems with.
Thanks in advance!

I am also still having a black screen,
3.55keamw fw
internal hdd
Heavenly Sword disc in drive.
Same setup and problem as above poster really (Other than my games in GAMEZ folder, however I followed the guide (or at least tried to) by running fix permissions, but get the following error "An error occured during the start operation (80029519)"
I've been looking for information about why fix permissions crashes like this but haven't found a solution.
Any help/advice would be very much appreciated, as im pretty much out of ideas at this point.

Use the external fixpermissions.pkg from ps3-hacks.com it's a permission problem. Grab that from ps3-hacks.com and you'll be set.
Here's the link : http://ps3.dashhacks.com/downloads/fix-permissions
Added this link to first post as well. Always run this after every game you rip or obtain. It always fix the black screen problems when everything else is set.

Thanks, but still no dice. I wonder, does my game need to be in the LAUN12345/GAMEZ folder for the fix permissions pkg to work? I'm ripping another full copy from my Mortal Kombat iso to start fresh and I think I'll try putting it into the LAUN12345/GAMEZ folder on my PS3. Lastly, do I need to mess with any modified EBOOTS to make this work? I am at a loss here...
Thanks again
