Can't reply to your post because of some daft 30 post rule. Been here for over a year but still what the fook?
Anyway, not sure what you're trying to do. Are you wanting to modify the game because that is the patch you're trying to apply. Or do you just want the game to run? Just transfer the game you have downloaded (i.e the whole folder called BLUSxxxxx) to the Games folder in the hdd0 folder in your PS3. Make sure there's nothing else in there (delete all the stuff you've put in there already). Use FTP service to do the transfer (Flash FXP or use Multiman's FTP service) to transfer the game from your PC. The game will then show up in multiman, launch it and run from the disc icon on the xmb (with another game disc in the the drive obviously).
You can't 'merge' a .pkg update/mod file into your original downloaded game folder. These mod packages will overwrite any files from the game automatically themselves. Once the game is installed and run, you can then apply these mod patches (which aren't great) via the 'install Package Files' from the xmb. Merry xmas.

Thanks for going through the trouble to help me! lol.
I really don't know what I'm doing either. What I took from these patches is that I needed them in order for the game to work. I guess that's not the case. I was able to get the Saw Video Game working fine following your method, so I'm retrying it with GTA IV now. I'll keep you posted.
