fake E3

hi all my e3 card came today but i have a sneeky feeling its a fake can some one tell me how to spot a fake from the real deal

it has no memory card or switch with it either

the chip inside is a winband 25032bvsig1042

please advice

Well I used to have an E3 card reader but i sold it once the custom firmwares started coming out back in January. Was gonna say what the heck are you buying an e3 card reader for. No need for dongles anymore. Either go with Hermes 3.41 CFW or Kmeaw 3.55 and your good to go

But as far as being a fake I know for one they dont have a switch on them, dont come with a memory card, and not sure about the chip.

All i know is i think it lights up red when its jailbreaking it, then i think it a blue light turns on when its in jailbroken status. Just make sure you download the payload from the e3 website and put it on the dongle.

But yea either way I would ditch the card reader and install CFW. Save the circuitry on your ps3 from having to do hard resets each time.

i use kmeaw on most of my machines but i got about 12 ps3s that need downgrading or bluray drives remarrying so i went for the e3 dongle because she keeps moaning about me using her phone all the time.

as for switch what i meant was it was advertised with a switch for the ps3 slim so you didnt have to keep pulling cable.

one last thing the circular plastic bit on the case doesnt light up (it might not but it does look like a light) and the inner bit of the circle that looks like a button dosnt do any thing when its pressed.

when i plug it in to pc i get E3_4M_STICK and e3upgrader

That makes sense then. I forgot they have other purposes and they are good for downgrading.

Sounds like the same one I had. Their folder names dont match their instructions from what i remember. They must of false advertised on the switch though if you dont see one or they sent you the wrong e3. I think you drop the hex files in the folder named E3_4M_STICK. You may want to double check me since its been a while but im pretty sure. Worst that would happen though if you test it is it just wouldnt jailbreak it. Not sure about the downgrade process though.

The e3card reader: the circle/button on the plastic case is only decoration; no function or light up. The lights are inside and glow through the case when appropriate. Yes, the switch you reference turns off the slims, instead of unplugging, is separate item, sometimes sold together with the e3 for a little extra. Either you made a mistake ordering (no insult) and ordered without the switch or they made mistake filling your order (probably) or you got jipped out of it.

There are no programs on the card(so they will not be confiscated); you must download them here:E3card Reader PS3 E3-GoldenF or several other places listed on psx-scene.

When you put it in your pc it will list in explorer E3_4M_STICK", "E3Upgrader" and "Removable DISK" as drives. These lables may change depending on what you load on them. Removable disk may not show up on your system unless you put a micro sd card in the little slot.

If you are going to downgrade, you want to put the downgrader on it first, not the dual boot firmware. Please, follow instructions carefully when using pups so as not to hurt your machine. When using downloaded pups you should check their integrity with checksum program on your pc.

When inserted in the ps3, then power on and eject (no disc in drive better),
the end will glow red for about 10 seconds and then glow blue. The blue glow may flicker at first. The red glow may flicker a for a short time, then stop.

Enjoy playing with your dongle. It will also give you the Golden Finger.

If it is fake it would be the first clone of the E3, anyhow try their encryption software and goldfinger. If they work then you have a legit E3 as they don't come with software on them or SD cards and in order to get the switch you need to pay extra. I think it is a case of expecting more than you actually get.

Hello I have a new PS3 320 slim and I want to jailbreak it I am running 4.11 firmware and I want and the tool to install game on my hard drive and be safe playing them when I am online, I am looking into using the 3E Flasher to downgrade it, but I'm not sure if it's compatible, and how to use it. My PS3 is model CECH-2501B
