As all known, E3 card reader is multi-function pc card reader.
with diffirence firmware, it has its unique function .

few weeks ago, third party release the firmware to jailbreak ps3, really nice job !

today, official team release a funny and useful function, encrypt your file with E3card reader.

HOW TO ENABLED THE MMC/SD CARD ENCRYPTION MODE

    1. Plug the E3card Reader in your PC USB port and wait for the removable driver E3Upgrader

    2. Copy the ResetToKernel.bin to the E3Upgrader and the E3Upgrader will dispear.

    3. Wait for a removable driver Kernel appear, and copy the SD Encrypt.bin to this driver.
Dettach the E3card Reader and re-plug it into your PC. You will see the E3 4M STICK, E3Upgrader and the SD Driver again.
This means, the MMC/SD card encryption mode is enabled successful.

    4. For the usage of the MMC/SD card Encryption Mode, please refer to the user manual.

With encrypt mode, your file can only read from your own E3 card reader, it is good for safekeep important file !

you can get details here : E3

so i had posted on the original e3 downgrade thread and i apologize for double post, but im afraid it may be eaten up in the hundreds of post on the thread and its much more relevant here anyways...
    http://psx-scene.com/forums/f6/e3-ca...0/index44.html
top of the page my post (i dunno how to quite i just finally registered tonite)

anyways, im wondering will this help in any way to decrypt the method of downgrade that the e3 uses? seems like the simplest and wildest idea, but would they have encrypted their service mode payload the same way that it could encrypt any of the end user's files?

Yep, if we can manage to reverse the code we can hopefully port it to public.

meh. just was thinking that if the e3 card can encrypt/decrypt a file, that maybe their downgrade method could be encrypt/decrypt the same way. google just shat on my brain tho.

edit: algorithym. thats the word! is that possible? that the card uses the same algorithym with end user's files as the encryption of the 'downgrade' files...? ps, mad props to you code slangin dudes. i look at some hex for like 15 min, just curiousity i guess, but damn i feel like im cross eyed and blonde
