E3 Problem : Newbie –
12-20-2010,08:10 PM
Hi
I got my E3 today from Lightspeed. I put the official firmware on, everything looks like it worked, blue light and all. I found a hermes payload, renamed to h.hex and placed it in the E3_4M_STICK folder.
Turned off my fat ps3 by the back power button, placed the e3 in the ps3 slot, hit the power, hit the eject key and the ps3 sounded like a jet engine taking off. No power lights on the E3 at all. After a few seconds the ps3 just beeps.
What am i missing here. I've been searching but can't seem to find any answers

Have you tried turning on your PS3 without the E3 inserted?

Disavowed:
Without the E3 the ps3 works fine. This is really strange.....

tried without the hex, just the default firmware of the e3 and it's the same problem.
I've even reflashed the e3 on another machine... same issue.
I'm starting to think the e3 is bad. Is there a way to reflash the E3 to it's factory settings?

Not that i know of, do you have another machine to test your E3, if it doesn't work well its an E3 problem.

Yeah, you might want to do this and if it also fails on the other PS3 then RMA the E3.
You might also want to try the bin that bitsbubba pointed you to. Upgrade to that bin and remove everything from the 4M folder.
