E3 Card reader help (Blue Light not coming on).

So I'm extremely new to all this and couldn't find help anywhere.
Rigorous search only kept linking me to the steps you have to take and I've done it all hundreds and hundreds of times.

So, I have a fatty fat fat fat PS3 on OFW 4.21, the Flasher worked fine and what not (or so I'm led to believe by the tutorials). The problem comes when I load in my downgrader file into the card reader.
I turned off the power switch (just to be safe, I've done it with the switch on), unplugged it, put in the card, plugged it back in (turned the power switch back on in the cases that it was off), turned on the power and immediately hit eject.

This causes the red light to come on and the screen stays black for a while, however eventually the red light turns off, the blue light never comes on, and the PS3 boots up as if nothing ever happened.
Just to make sure I didn't miss the light coming on I followed through with the steps and I never get into service mode, I'm using a FAT32 USB dongle for my other files. I just don't know what I've done wrong. I had to reset my connections a couple of times before the Flasher worked properly, but I don't think that has anything to do with it.

I'm sorry if this has been answered a million and one times but I've done as much looking and hair pulling as I could and couldn't find any form of help. So if anybody has any suggestions or know what the issue is it would be greatly appreciated.

having the exact same problem, almost. I'm running OFW 4.00 on a cech-2501b (320gig, 2010 make). I bought the e3 flasher & e3 card reader. As far as I can tell I did everything concerning the flasher right, but when I go to use the dongle with the e3downgrader bin file I get nothing. In my case the reader never turns blue. It lights up red, flickers for a bit, goes off completely, stays that way for a while, and then loads the menu screen. I've tried going on to the next step, but nothing, the ps3 just boots up normally. I've also tried all kinds of combinations of turning things off and unplugging things, and powering on using different methods. Bupkis. Any ideas about what step got messed up?

After much trial and error I've finally gotten the damn thing to work. I started over from the very beginning using this tutorial at ps3hax (showthread. php?t=30815). I can't post urls so just go to their website and add the bit in parenthesis after the backslash without spaces. I wish I had found this site a week ago. Happy hacking!
