i red somewhere that cause of the 256mb flash in the phat models the internal hard drive wont get formatted during the process of downgrading. so my question is do i have to save my games on the internal drive before downgrading or can i leave them there for future use? sry for an extra thread for this but i didnīt found the thread there this was stated.
cheers

So far, it's been mixed results. Most people don't have to format their internal, but there are reports of some that do (on phat PS3's). So, no one can tell you 100% if you'll have to format or not, and what that condition is based on.

I think if you have one of the first generation fats then it wont format(60gb launch model)!
Someone with a 80gb fat had to format!
There may be others that dont, but the slims do!

I found this info on a russian website so posting source is pointless lol.
Found this in another thread. Seems like you have to have a model that has the 256mb NAND for it not to format.
