downgrade without losing hdd data?

hi guys, my e3 finally arrived today and i was wondering if it is possible to downgrade without losing anything on my hdd? if not, is there a way i can backup the whole hdd? thanks

If you have a ps3 with model # CECG or lower you wont have to format, but you'll lose bluray movie playback. You can always use the backup utility in the system xmb.

i have slim so i dont know, what if i pop out the hdd before i downgrade?

Simple - you unlock trophy -->

do backup from xmb (settings) like just chesh said.

m8 hdd is need for the downgrade , well atleast the install fw part. do a backup like been said only way round it that i know of.

yep (remember - hdd must be format in fat32 file system)

hmm something new for me, is downgrading a fat one different then the slim one, i have both, and i jailbrook the slim, what do you mean the activation keys?

and when you jailbreak a fat you dont lose youre keys?
