Defective E3 USB card reader?
Defective E3 USB card reader? –
I just got my E3 card reader from Lightake, and when I place the firmware from e3 card reader, new generation ps3 chip with mulit-function onto the E3Upgrader drive, the USB stick lights up blue. One weird thing I've noticed is when I unplug it and plug it back in, it's no longer blue. I'm having trouble getting the jailbreak to work. I power off the PS3 from the back, plug in the USB stick, power the machine back on from the back, and then press the power on the front of the console followed by the reset button immediately, and the stick turns red and then flickers for a bit and then both lights are off when the machine is fully booted. I'm using the 3.41 FW on the PS3.
I tried both "New 2in1 firmware, support 3.55SPOOF, and simplify free psgroove usage" and "e3fw-HermesV4b+Kakaroto 2 in 1 for 3.41fw" from the EU site to no avail. Does the fact that the device doesn't turn blue when I plug it into my computer again mean it's no longer flashed?
Not quite understand, but still hope you can solve your problem as soon as possible

Same problem here.
I have the slim PS3 with 3.40 FW.When I try to Jailbreak the E3 card reader plugged in the PS3 just turms red and then after few seconds its OFF completely.I'm using the BIN file from the E3 web site (china). Also I turn the console OFF trough the power cord since it is the Slim PS3.
Any help would be appreciated.
The neat thing about the E3 Card Reader is that the payloads are packaged into the files, so no you don't need a hex dump. Did you place the "New 2in1 firmware, support 3.55SPOOF, and simplify free psgroove usage" file into the E3Upgrader DISK? If so then the blue light should turn on meaning that its flashing a new firmware. Once its done unplug it and plug it into the ps3 and do the usual button combination. Do you have a micoSD card in the device? If so I suggest that you take it out if you are not on 3.41. If the microSD card it is it will use the payload for lower fimrwares.
