For use as some schematic that need RB5:
Set the "RB5" pin to GND for enter the BOOTLOADER mode

For use as "Custom-Bootloader-Hex-MP-Schematic" board:
Set the "RB7" pin to GND for enter the BOOTLOADER mode

If without this yellow sticker , then mean it's not a official product.

The Max-Pic come with the "F0" LED demo firmware when selling, so it's legit product.
When you get this kit first time, you should put it to USB port directly, to see it works or not.
The LED demo flow:
[1] first all LEDs will turn on and keep 2 seconds around.

[2] then all LEDs will turn off, and start to blinking one by one, and loop.

Now you can try to enter the BTL upgrade mode, just press the RED RESET/BTL button, you should see the RB4 and RB5 blinking very fast,
and PC can detect one "HID compliant device", now is in the BTL mode already, the firmware updater should can detect your kit also.

The retail packing:

AWESOME! This looks really exciting to mess around with.
I could have really used this last week when I was JTAGing my Xbox 360 through a DB-25 port... lol.
Thanks for the write-up Patrick.

Wow, looks godly
. Now I might consider collecting money to get xbox 360 and have both consoles: ps3 and x360. Can't wait to get my hands on it. Thanks for giving us information about this product.

now this looks like a quality product we have here. now i'm anticipating the test kit a little more. it can do quite alot with doubling as a JTAG device.
