My 1st game review(Duke Nukem Forever on PS3).

First things first,i know that since this is a review that isnt negative but rather positive,im not surprised if i get a lot of hatemail for this.
Because i think DNF is a great game.
Yes,i just said DNF is a great game,sure its not better than DN3D but it's great anyways,at least in my opinion,so let's get to the review shall we?

Graphics:7/10
It's not the best looking game ever made,and there are several games that beat DNF's Graphics,but i thought they were decent for what they were,Duke looks like Duke,the animations(though the third person animations arent the best)are pretty good,the gore looks pretty cool,strippers as well,and the aliens all look semi-decent,and there is more than two colors in its palette(except when playing in hoover dam aka the last quarter of the game,everything's gray)and in general i liked the graphics of this game.

Story:No Rating.
Why? because this game is really not about story(unless you want to talk about Duke's one-liners)and more about gameplay,though if i were to give the story a rating it would be 5/10.

Sound:8/10
Jon St. John is still a fantastic voice actor and makes Duke sound like always,a total badass,in fact i think this game would be solely worth because of Duke's voice acting and one-liners,though the other voice actors sound decent and the aliens dont sound all that bad,guns sound pretty good(the shotgun in particular)but i think DNF's biggest sound issue is that its soundtrack is hit-and-miss,some songs like the intro song are awesome,other such as when wandering around in hoover dam(one which has some sort of epic feel,i will later try to find it)feel a little weird.

Gameplay:8/10
I did find DNF's gameplay to be really fun,mostly because its variety is HUGE.
sure,someone's gonna say,"what variety?"
Well,it has a HL2 feel,it has puzzles,bosses,pinball machines,strip clubs,some sights of non linear gameplay,variety in guns that are fun to shoot,some serious sam style enemies(berserk pigcops)vehicles,and sometimes big areas and some secrets which is one of the flaws of the game,Single player wise,there's about 5 secrets total(pretty low compared to DN3D),and sometimes the game tries way too much variety at once.
not only that but the gunplay isnt the best,sure the ai is a little dumb(some are somewhat smart,the octabrains and flying assault commanders are examples)but mostly the ai is very simple,though it works,but the main reason i say the gunplay isnt the best its because,some guns such as the pistol,and ripper,should pack more punch,aka more gore,as when you kill something with pistol or a ripper,usually they just fall straight on their faces,which is lame.
Not only that,there should have been more secrets,and more new enemies and weapons,which of the new weapons,2 of them arent that bad,but the other two just arent as fun to use,the 2 ones that are cool are the Railgun,and the other one is the Enforcer gun,the other 2 are the AT Laser and AT Captain Laser,are just not fun to use at all.
There is challenge,and the game does last quite a bit(about 10 hours IIRC)
As for the bosses,some are easy,and other will make you go insane,the Octaking,will drive you nuts.
They are at least fun to fight against.
Regen health,i didnt mind that,and hell,you wanna challenge yourself? dont pick up most of the Ego Boosts which increase your health,and in the later sections of the game,you are gonna die,and you will probably thanking god that you have regen. health.
Two weapons limit,however is BS,sure,when you play the game,when you arent fighting a boss,this isnt annoying,but when you are fighting a boss,unless there is a turret,you need one of your weapons replaced by an explosive weapon,else you do no damage against the bosses,which this is fixed on the pc version of the game,by having 4 weapons,which should have been there in the first place.
Loading times are indeed a bit lengthy(not as much as Killzone 2 thank god!)they take about 40 seconds,though some cases such as the final level they only take 20 or less seconds for some reason.
The humor is pretty good in my opinion,at least Duke doesnt say f*** more than 2 times in this game unlike serious sam 3,where sam loves using it and its really not that funny in SS3.
In general i thought this game was great,i will play MP more and probably update this review with my opinions on the MP and DLC,but yeah my rating on this game is 8/10,for the 360:7.5/10 and pc,the best version of the game: 8.5/10.

Not a bad review but I can't agree with you. I felt the game was complete garbage. Dated graphics with extremely linear environments. I loved Duke 3D but this game was nothing like the classic.

no problem man,we are all entitled to our opinions,even if the USA government is working against that(im talking about sopa,pipa and all that BS)
for me,even though i did enjoy DN3D more,but seeing how DNF is nearly completely different,i really cant expect it to be the same thing as DN3D,hell,same thing goes for MK9 to UMK3.(though im still decisive about which is better UMK3 or MK9.)

UMK3 or MK9.......that is tough. UMK3 had so many more ways to finish your opponent which is what I loved best about the MK series. MK9 has a fantastic control scheme and amazing graphics. If MK9 had Friendships and Animalities, it would be the best MK game without a doubt.

i want to comment on something else related to DNF.
the hive level,most people say duke nukem hates women in this level(aka "professional critics" same people that hated doom 2 on 360 and simpsons arcade on ps3/360 yet they were faithful conversions of the games and they hated them because it wasnt anything modern(aka halo or cod))while its better to kill them(yes i know it sounds weird) duke himself is disgusted by that and you can even notice that whenever that happens,and even if you dont kill them,aliens burst out and kill them,so you dont even have to do it to begin with.
and the wall boobs,cmon,we saw the butt level in earthworm jim,yet NOBODY complained of the level but on DNF they just rip it apart for no apparent reason whatsoever?
in my opinion,the wall boobs are lulz worthy,and the quotes duke makes really make it lulz.
another thing graphics related,just because a game doesnt have superb graphics,doesnt it mean it sucks(im talking about the graphics whores here)
and i really didnt find DNF's graphics to be dated,you wanna look at a game that has worse and more dated graphics than DNF?
MW3,MW2,Halo 3 ODST,nuff said.
