Ok, I've had my PS3Key for a few days and updated to FW1.2 with no issues.

However, with all the talk about Open Backup Manager, should I update to FW 2.2 instead? I'm just wondering how the game compatibility is between the two?

And, could someone please tell me how to install Open Backup Manager? Yes, I can install the .pkg file but do I have to install the Hermes Payload? (I don't even know which Hermes Payload goes with which Open Backup Manager version.)

I'm assuming having multiple versions of the Hermes Payload (v1,2,3) shouldn't matter?

Yes, I read the thread on the Hermes payload but there's 133+ pages of not really useful stuff.

I should also mention that I replaced my internal HDD to 500GB so won't be using an external HDD at all. And, I don't mind sticking an original disc in the drive.

Hmm.... reading around, it looks like FW 2.2 has the updated Hermes Payload (I'm guessing v2?) and should be able to use OBM.

Does anyone have any real-world experience for game compatibility between BM and OBM?

Yea, pretty much anyone here has experience with it. My opinion, OM is the way to go because it is open source and therefore constantly being improved upon here by some of the bright folks like Moh and Talmagal. I can say that a couple games that I could not get to work with the backup manager work with OM.

I am in the same dilema..just got my ps3key last weekend...programmed it to V2.2 and put some games on my HD. All worked except eye pet....

Presently am using backup manager...should I go for open manager and if yes which version is the best and maybe the one to run eye pet as well.

Moreover have read that open manager uses a different path to that of backup manager ( LAUNCH12345) .,,,,I have deleted the downloads from my pc so dont want to loose the games on my internal drive...what is recommended to start using open manager.,...should I maybe rename LAUNCH12345 to open managers new folder ?

    Wraith92, thanks for the info.

godwisper, from what I've read, OBM can work in the same file directory. Just don't delete the old backup manager (or change the directory structure before you do).
