Huh? Hasn't it been said its compatible?
Does PSGroove have to support any specific bootloader?
Isn't the bootloader just there to set the controller into a writeable state ?
Which means if you are finished with programming the bootlaoder isn't even active anymore, so PSGroove does the rest....thats how I at least thought things ware working
Seems to me that the bootloader is always present in the chip. without, impossible to reflash it with other code.
It's even possible to create his own bootloader.
The question now is how to extract this bootloader, analyse it and made our own...
Present != Active, right?
I mean, they wouldnt let the bootloader check what software is in the ROM right?....That would be pretty f'ed
As described on their site, the bootloader is encrypted:
Fully updatable via USB on your PC using an encrypted bootloader. (so, not free like the one from atmel)
So, to my mind, this bootloader can easily say to the software (flip for exemple) that it is another chip (a custom one) and flip does not recognize the hardware.
It may be possible to replace this bootloader, but i do not know how (for the moment...)
this bootloader can even enter in dfu mode with a special action like plug and unplug three time the dongle on the usb port.
on other dongle, you have to push button or short some pins...
I've contacted my source at PS3Key as they sent me a review sample (which will be delivered today) and I asked them about the bootloader and hex files.
"Yes, it's loaded with an encrypted bootloader. You can erase it and install something else, but then you would not be able to put PS3Key code back onto it again."
However, it was not stated as to how to erase it or any other information was provided.
OK thanks for that info...I guess I'll wait till someone figures that out.
Funny they just dont write up a quick guide on their homepage....I mean their product is already released and how long does it take to write 5 lines of what exactly to do
Because nothing has really released in terms of files (I dont think. I registered for their download section but can not view as I have not entered my serial yet). I believe they will have their own version of Backup Manager based on some teasers I have seen online unless its the same Backup Manager but with PS3Key logo on it.

They did however post a guide on how to fix a short that is present in 1% of PS3Key on their website.
