Is the PS3Key updatable with every HEX File?

Hi,
i have a question about the PS3Key. Yesterday i bought a piece and my question is, if i can update the PS3Key on the PC by myself, with FLIP in example. Would that be possible? Or do i have to wait, until the PS3Key Team brings out a new Update?

Yes, you can update it with PSGroove .hex if you want, but according to info from team PS3Key if it is updated with PSGroove the user will lose the ability to use "official" PS3Key updates in the future. This seems odd, but after thinking about it and talking to a couple friends this is prolly due to the fact that PS3Key plans to release patches to their code rather than complete .hex files with every update.

Yes, you can update it with PSGroove .hex if you want, but according to info from team PS3Key if it is updated with PSGroove the user will lose the ability to use "official" PS3Key updates in the future. Wraith92 is correct. PS3Key team has plans to make their product unique and is in the process of building their own backup manager/loader. In order to load their loader, you need a PS3Key. So overwriting any proprietary files on the PS3Key with hex files will void warranty, support and any future updates.

Once you overwrite PS3Key's file with PSGroove hex, you will NOT be able to load back PS3Key files again. So if you wanted the PS3Key's look but add your own files, you should of bought AVRKey. AVRKey has been sent to me and I will have a full review like I did for the PS3Key when I receive it.

With the AVRKey, you can use FLIP program to load files but there will be a simple GUI made available for the AVRKey shortly.

Do you also know, where i can buy the AVRKey? To be honest, first i thought that the AVRKey would be fake. ^^

This is a good way to look at it; if PS3Key is good wit support like I think they will be. Then always use their updates, if they fail to update then flash it with groove files cause if they don't support there will be no need in having the ability to use their files as they will become dated pretty quickly.

PS3key is small but does the same like any other jailbreak device. I experienced no problem.

When I get my AVR key, I will try and see if I can update it however with PS3Key. However, I dont think it will be possible. PS3Key update files are .upd where as AVRKey would use .hex files. AVRKey uses FLIP software to upload files and I dont think FLIP will read .upd files.

A little off topic, but I think it's worth mentioning considering the discussion of what controller is best to buy.

Marcan is currently working on "AnOther OS" which is basically a linux loader payload via the usb exploit (ie. psjailbreak/freedom/groove)

Marcan has commented that whatever device you use, needs to have at least 64KB of programmable flash, otherwise the payload won't fit.........

This rules out many of the boards being used currently.

I've got the AT90USBKEY which has 128KB and IMO is awesome (2 leds etc.) albeit twice the size of some of the smaller boards (eg. teensy 2.0, and commercially released usb keys)

The other advantage I'm seeing is the Atmel controller seems to be the first build for all the latest psgroove updates.

I have a question about the Update. Like ive seen before, theres no Button/Led to press/see to update. How do i update the Stick?
