    Hi All,

    I have a PS3Key with official version 2.1 UPD.

Can anyone confirm from experience if you install the Open firmware Hex from PS3Key, or in fact any of the PSGroove hex's for Teensy 1.0, that you will lose the ability to then use a future version of the official PS3Key UPD file?

....or in less words if I install the Open firmware could I reflash with PS3Key firmware later?

No, you can't flash it with PS3Key firmware later if you choose open firmware now, also the LED's don't work if you use open firmware (well, if you use PS3Key's open hex they might). I'm trying to make a decision about this myself atm. Good luck

You can NOT install PS3Key updates if you overwrote it with HEX files. This has been confirmed to me by PS3Key. So if you load a HEX file on PS3Key, so goodbye to future PS3Key support. You just turned your PS3Key into a AVRKey.

And with AVRKey, you can NOT load PS3Key. Both use different extensions and different programs to load files.

Before. Regardless if this was after or before their "open" version HEX, the same applies. Its your PS3Key, so you're more than welcome to do whatever you want. However, dont say I never warned/informed you (this goes for everyone).

Thats why they have 2 devices...PS3Key and AVRKey. PS3Key is proprietary and specifically for all PS3Key files/updates only. AVRKey is for HEX only. There would be no reason to have 2 devices if they all worked on the same device.

You need to download the Amtel FLIP program.

I dont see why you guys would ever want to use HEX files and whatnot though. The ps3key upd system is SO easy, and theres no going back to it ever once you flash something else.

I'm with you 100% on this. It's one of the reasons I went with a PS3Key. Only reasons I could see someone wanting to do a hex install would be to use a newer version such as HERMV3 right now. I am sure that PS3Key will be updated soon enough with the features though and loosing the easy updates isn't worth being in a rush in my opinion. Its nice to know though that the PS3Key can be changed to using hex updates at anytime in case something happens and no more official updates are released at some point down the road.

Great answers, thanks for the input all.

Thought that may be the case so I'll stick with the official updates for now.
