PS3Key Questions about operation
PS3Key Questions about operation –
Hey everyone thanks for taking the time to look at my thread. I did some surfing around the site and did not see this particular question asked previously. I recently ordered my PS3Key, should be here in a few days. I have a question. I understand the install process. Easy, and straightforward.
1) Turn off PS3 by rear switch or unplug. Connect PS3Key.
2) Turn on rear power switch or plug in, quickly power on with power button and immediately hit the eject button.
3) After boot, connect flash drive with boot manager or home brew and install .pkg files.
I have read that the PS3Key has to stay connected to use boot manager. My question is, "Do you have to do the rear power off, then power on, eject thing every time you want to play a backup? Or can you simply leave the PS3Key connected and run the boot manager normally from the XMB after it is installed?"

Personally I'd do;
1) Download the latest 2.3 official firmware and the associated upgrader app from PS3Keys site
2) Plug, unplug the PS3Key into the pc 4 times to get it into dfu mode.
the other steps you've got spot on.
Personally I found Jurai2's Cover Manager to be the best version of 'Open Manger' thats out.
The PS3Key needs to be active to remain Jailbroken - run unsigned code apps such as cover manager or backup manager. Therefore yes, at each boot of the PS3 you need to do the power cycle, eject thing. However once it's on you can start games, quit them and pick new ones via backup manager until you next power off.
Id go for 2.2 if you have a slim 2.3 doesnt support hermes yet and it doesnt help if you wanna play games that need controller fix patch

If you are playing a game (let's says for instance : just cause 2) and you want to play a different game (let's say :saw) all you have to do is exit the game using the PS button on the controller, go back to your backup manager or open manager menu and simply choose a different game to load it up... and then play the game... you can do this all night long playing many different games without rebooting.... YOu only have to do the BOOT thing when you close the ps3. hope this helped
And if your question is: do you have to do the BOOt thing every time you close the ps3 and you want to open it to play backups... then the answer is yes....
So if you don't close it ... you can switch games as much as you want .. but at the second you close the ps3 you will have to do the (power cord off and hit the power button and eject button) thing to reopen it...
