PS3KEY - or easier way for a newbie? - is the PS3KEY site down?

Hey everybody.

im a totally rookie here, so hope you can help

I have a PS3. with software 4.25.. i have a ps3key which i got from a friend who had 2. he is currently in afghanistan so can't ask him.

is the ps3key good or is there an easier way to do it??

i heard i have to get something from the ps3key website, but i get an error when i type in the address. do you know if the site is down og simply stopped, because the ps3key i got 2 years ago, but never tried it.??

I believe you currently still need to be on 3.55 firmware to use the ps3key. You need to get your drive key in order for the ps3key to work. The only way to get your drive key is to have custom firmware. You can only install custom firmware on 3.55.

Yes you would need a hardware downgrade any CFW route you go. Once you pass 3.55 hardware is the only way to install a CFW with a NOR/NAND flasher like E3 or progskeet. Dongles are utterly useless now days and it is just a piece of history with no real value or use.

is it possible to downgrade to the 3.55 somehow?

as i said first im already confused because i have never tried this before, is there a good toturial for a newbie somewhere

It means you need to buy a hardware flasher (e3 or progskeet) so you can downgrade your console to 3.55.

Ignore what I said about needing the drive key (I thought you had another device), but everything else remains the same. You need to be on 3.55. The ps3key is mostly worthless, but you may need it for the downgrade process because it can get you into factory service mode.
