My ps3key arrived today. It has a yellow sticker in it, but i can't register my serial number, (i'm getting a "Invalid serial number - please check that you have entered your serial correctly." error).
And i can't put it at update mode, i've inserted it and removed it a dozen times but not getting both light up at the same time.
A few seconds after insert the pen, the light turns blue and windows 7 recognize it and install drivers as a generic usb. when i enter in it i have this information:
    PS3Key
    Bootloader: 1.03
    Firmware: 1.0c 3.41
    UIN: 0001-8BB7
    © PS3Key.com 2010

I think i have a real ps3key version, so i don't understand why i can't register it and put it on update mode

I think you have the new Version of the Key.

yes ps3key updates are really slow
however new ps3key will use silicon chips and dont' need anymore flip or software updater, i will get the new stock on 19 probably, however here what they told me

"The SiliconLabs IC actually has some exciting features, one of which is a
much better way to perform updates: After inserting the dongle into a PC,
it will show as a "USB Flash Drive" and then it's simply a matter of
dragging-and-dropping the update file onto the USB drive and the
PS3Key/AVRKey will be updated! No application needed!"

the question is: which update file? every hex file or only some hex file?
Here a picture from the new Key: (The one which is so called "fake")

    i55.tinypic.com/24ci1on.jpg

And here the specifikations from a user from an other forum: (it looks like if you have now 64kb instead of 32kb-flash)

    PS3Key:

    Kapazität: 68 KB (68.096 Byte)
    Wechselmedien: Ja
    Absteckbares Laufwerk: Ja
    BSD-Name: disk4
    Produkt-ID: 0x0090
    Hersteller-ID: 0x3752
    Version: 0.00
    Geschwindigkeit: Bis zu 12 MBit/s
    Hersteller: ZPM Corp.
    Standort-ID: 0x13200000
    Verfügbare Stromstärke (mA): 500
    Erforderliche Stromstärke (mA): 30
    Partitionstabellentyp: Unbekannt
    S.M.A.R.T.-Status: Nicht unterstützt

No, mine is a yellow sticker, and is a ps3key. works with the updates, green is the avr key, which only works with "open" firmwares.
